The role of the Lead UI Designer to HSBC Digital Solutions (HDS) has brought together highly skilled industry experts to design, build, manage and continuously evolve digital opportunities and capabilities, creating innovative customer-centric banking services in a mobile world.

We are seeking talented UI Designers, to work as part of the HDS Cross Functional teams (XFT), in London and across the globe. The role of the Lead Digital Designer UI is to lead and create ‘Best In Class’ experiences for our websites and mobile apps (including future channels/devices). The chosen candidate will have a track record of leading the successful delivery of customer-centric solutions in an agile environment.

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Following user-centred design methods and industry best practices and trends, create accessible designs of products and services for the bank's customers.
  • Deliverables consist mainly of (but not limited to) mood boards, sketches, mock-ups, interactive prototypes, user testing materials, interaction definitions & high fidelity screen designs following brand guidelines.
  • Lead and perform stakeholder engagement and presentations on a regular basis. Provide design expertise support in all aspects of UCD, with strong emphasis on mobile-centric solutions, across the analysis and design functions.
  • The role holder can have line management accountability for a team, in which case a proportion of their time (circa 20-30%) will be people focused rather than task focused. This includes performance management, development plans and reward/recognition practices.
  • Build strong relationships, adopting a joined up approach to execute change at pace with minimum conflict.
  • Ensure a high bar for all the design work produced by the design team, driving consistent user experience and alignment across multiple products.

 The ideal candidate for this role will have the below experience and qualifications:

  •  Strong experience in User Centred Design methodology and its practical implementation.
  • Skilled in the use of various software tools, such as Sketch, In Vision, Adobe CC etc.
  • In-depth understanding and experience with native app design for both Android and iOS
  • Demonstrate working experience in a design leadership role.

  • A track record of effectively handling complex sales, to meet the needs of demanding customers, in a fair and ethical way.

  • Set and achieved challenging short, medium and long term goals which exceeded the standards in their field

  • A track record of effectively handling complex sales, to meet the needs of demanding customers, in a fair and ethical way

 The base location of this role will be 110 Southwark Street, London, SE1 0SU
