UI/UX Designer 


As a UI/UX Designer you serve as a cross-functional team member, driving the user experience and design of our mobile and web products. You will have the opportunity to work with world-class applications in the exciting, emerging field of augmented reality. We’re a growing startup, so we’re looking for someone that will jump right in with our new growth initiatives. You’ll create and improve both functional and appealing features based on feedback we receive from our customer-base. The position will work out of our headquarters in Norfolk, Virginia (it will be remote for the time being due to Covid-19), where the waterfront meets business. It’s a wonderful location to live, work and play


Responsibilities

  • Gathering and evaluating user requirements in an agile environment, in collaboration with Creative Director, product managers and engineers to produce high-quality digital products
  • Create low and high fidelity mockups using best design principles for user interfaces for mobile and web platforms
  • Develop innovative user interface designs in response to business requirements and user analysis
  • Develop conceptual models personas, workflows, design prototypes, and user interface specifications
  • Create design systems including patterns, components and guidelines for products
  • Assist product management in authoring product requirements documents, as needed
  • Illustrating design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps
  • Designing graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs and widgets
  • Present and explain complex concepts, designs, and interaction models to a variety of audiences
  • Present design concepts and negotiate with stakeholders to arrive at a design that supports both the business and strong user experience
  • Conduct and participate in product usability tests
  • Provide mentoring and education on user experience, as needed
  • Ability to provide direction for other product designers while evangelizing usability, simplicity, and high-quality design
  • Offer support and advice to stakeholders on prioritization and product strategy
  • Stay current on trends and best practices in the user experience field


Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in usability/design field or similar role designing digital products
  • You’ve shipped world-class products that are used by substantial user bases 
  • Experienced in web and native mobile design for both iOS and Android
  • Strong proficiency with Figma, Illustrator and other Adobe Creative Suite required
  • Must have an online portfolio with examples of user workflows, design mockups, and documentation reflecting the design thinking used to solve specific customer or business problems
  • Knowledge of front-end coding preferred
  • Ability to self-manage and conduct in a proactive manner
  • Enterprise product design a plus
