UX & UI Designer

SH:24

UX & UI Designer (contract)

About the role

This is a rare, incredibly exciting and rewarding opportunity to join a high performing team and a rapidly expanding health tech start up, with a meaningful social mission.

Try before you buy - we are currently looking for a contractor but there could be opportunities to join as a permanent member of our team.

We are looking for a confident, talented and motivated UX and UI designer to help us continuously optimise existing experiences, prototype and design new ones.

Candidate

You will be highly skilled designer, who always works to achieve high accessibility standards, and designs user interfaces and flows that are easy, intuitive and pleasurable for users to interact with.

You will be passionate about user led UX and UI and capable of communicating insights and opportunities to a diverse audience.

You will confidently create prototypes from low to high fidelity, creating testing plans and translating feedback into insights, which you can use to iterate and optimise the user experience.

You will be able to design with and without existing component libraries.

You will be confident to switch contexts, and work on multiple briefs at the same time.

You will be a team player, and work in cross-functional teams, with other designers, developers, product owners and other key stakeholders in the organisation (inclusive of clinical, operations and finance teams).

You will be enthusiastic about creating positive social change, be user focused, collaborative, hard working and have a flexible approach suited to working within an agile fast-paced health care environment.

You will have a relevant degree and demonstrable history as a mid/senior service designer delivering high-quality user-centred design projects from end-to-end.

You will have experience and confidence in:

  • collaborating within a multi-disciplinary team of designers, researchers, front and back end developers,
  • leading creative workshops, planning sessions or on-site user research, and;
  • understanding and navigating complex briefs and gnarly intractable problems.

Ideally, you will have experience designing within or for the health sector, but an inquisitive mind is essential. You will be interested in sexual and reproductive health care, public policy and global public health.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities

Design UX and UI that continue to put SH:24 at the forefront of user-centred health care services.

To work with service designers to translate ideas and concepts into designs that can be tested by users, iterated and ultimately developed by our inhouse development team.

Feel confident in executing and exploring multiple different avenues - and invite feedback from colleagues, users and other stakeholders in order to refine or decide a route to take.

Develop wireframes, user interfaces, journeys and touchpoints that identify and respond to user behaviour (unmet need, pain points, drivers and barriers) to meet accessibility standards and result in experiences that are on brief, on brand and beautiful (in every way).

Skilled in rapidly building paper and digital interactive prototypes. Creating and executing testing plans using remote testing tools / services.

Ensure insights from user testing are implemented into interface designs.

To work across a portfolio of projects simultaneously working with colleagues and stakeholders across the business, seeking to gather, iterate and validate requirements through prototyping.

Optimise existing services and design new ‘green field’ services.

Work cross-functionally with including other designers, full stack and front end software developers (as well as the wider team, including clinicians and operations team members).

Be proactively abreast and responsive to new trends and developments in modern UI, ensuring internal processes and activities remain innovative, relevant and impactful.

To represent the organisation when liaising with external clients and suppliers and at external speaking events.

Create tangible opportunities to ensure the service development team are sharing and integrating learning from programmes across the business, documenting and distributing patterns and learnings, to avoid duplication of effort across the business.
