The role
Our product and design team are designing for the future of personal finance. Interested in helping people achieve their life goals? Want to shape the future of how people manage, discover, assess, sign up and use financial services products to get their money right? Have an entrepreneurial mindset and a focus on creating multi-platform experiences to aid people in decision making? We would love to speak with you. This role is focused on a new business at SoFi, called Lantern, and leading design to create new ways to help people get their money right across every life stage. Our mission is to help our members find their path to financial independence by providing them with the tools, resources, and guidance they need to get there. We're building machine learning (ML) driven experiences that empower people to be proactive in finding solutions to get their money right and we are seeking a hands on design leader who is passionate about creating better financial solutions for people. What you’ll do:
Define the overall design strategy for a new SoFi line of business and drive the creation and evolution of the experience across multiple platforms
Lead the product design process and cross-functional team through concept to production
Partner with product managers from conception of product through finalization, including working closely with engineering team to implement high quality designs
Work closely with Product Managers, Engineering, Marketing, and Business Development to effectively communicate the value of user-centric design
Understand the users deeply across consumer segments through user insights and lead product design to drive measurable outcomes
Challenge previously-established thinking patterns, and discover new ways of problem solving all while being a clear and effective communicator
Collaborate with other designers across SoFi products
Lead and inspire the UX vision for a new line of business
What you’ll need:
5+ yrs experience of experience working in product design/UX roles
Experience translating machine learning insights and recommendations into streamlined user experiences (preferred)
Strong expertise in design tools (need to understand Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, InVision, etc)
Expertise in mobile and web UX best practices UX across iOS, Android and responsive web.
Strong collaboration skills across cross-functional teams including research, product management, engineering and marketing
Track record for using data to make informed product designs
Ability to translate user research and user needs into design solutions
Track record for delivering end to end solutions from initial concepts to measurable outcomes
Experience presenting work to senior leadership and advocating for user needs in the context of business and technology drivers
Experience working in an Agile development environment using tools like Jira and Confluence
A portfolio URL or PDF to submit with application with examples of mobile and responsive web product design
Nice to have:
Experience working on personal finance, data visualization, ecommerce, and social experiences
Experience working with remote teams and stakeholders
