THE ROLE

As our new Product Design Researcher, you’ll join a small team of user-centric experience designers focused on understanding our customers, continuously improving the Thrive Market user experience, and designing new features/functionality across our responsive web and native platforms. You’ll be responsible for driving research strategy and execution. You will perform evaluative research to identify opportunities for experience improvements, plus generative/exploratory research to answer big questions about user needs and behaviors.

Responsibilities

    • Translate business goals into research questions and develop research plans
    • Determine the type of study most appropriate to target the desired information
    • Recruit and schedule study participants
    • Create and manage research roadmap and calendar
    • Design and conduct research that reliably informs product roadmap prioritization and design decision-making, employing best practice methods such as ethnographic research, user interviews, needs and satisfaction surveys, usability studies
    • Manage external research resources if needed (e.g. facility rental)
    • Perform thorough data analysis
    • Present findings in both written and verbal formats
    • Stay abreast of industry trends and applicable external studies, and present what is learned to the team

Qualifications

    • 5+ years success leading user research projects with demonstrated impact
    • Strong portfolio demonstrating past work experience and deliverables (e.g. study plans, reports)
    • Deep understanding of user research methods and best practices
    • Experience with all aspects of research, including study design, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting
    • Hands-on experience with lab-based user testing, remote testing, paper prototype testing, iterative prototype testing, concept testing, field research, and survey design
    • Experience testing on a variety of devices, including smartphone, tablet, and desktop 
    • Exceptional behavioral data collection and analysis skills
    • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex concepts clearly and persuasively across diverse audiences 
    • Degree or comparable work experience in human computer interaction, cognitive psychology, or similar 

Bonus Points

    • Experience using usage data (i.e. site analytics) in conjunction with user research data
    • Strong understanding of quantitative data analysis and statistics
    • Basic video editing skills (to create session highlight reels)
