UX Researcher

Earnin

Our Mission

Our financial system is fundamentally unfair for people who live paycheck to paycheck. People shouldn’t have to wait weeks to get the pay they’ve already earned. This wait forces them to spend more than $100 billion a year on short-term credit products, late fees and overdraft fees.

Earnin helps people overcome this unfairness by giving them real-time access to their money as soon as they have worked—without fees or interest.

Our team is bound together by a desire to level the financial playing field. Our investors, Andreessen Horowitz, Ribbit Capital, Felicis Ventures, Matrix Partners and March Capital, believe we will change the world.

About the team

Nothing is more important to us than the trust our customers have placed in us. Earnin Design & Research is responsible for fostering that trust—through diligent customer research, innovative product strategy, and crafting high-quality user experiences.

Our Designers and Researchers are deployed into cross-functional product pods that work collaboratively, autonomously, and rapidly. We’re tasked with solving the company’s largest challenges during our hypergrowth phase. For example:

  • Help our customers cash out in the most efficient, painless way possible.

  • Help our customers understand their maximum cashout amount.

  • Imagine what new product lines would best benefit our customers.

As a UX Researcher you will:

  • Own end-to-end research projects for 1–2 pods, working with Product Managers, Designers, and Analysts to understand customer behavior and needs in order to help bring great experiences to life.

  • Influence Earnin’s product vision and research strategy.

  • Establish and grow relationships with Product Managers, Designers, Data Scientists, and Engineers and advocate for the role of UX Research in the company.

  • Strive to ensure that customer voices and experiences are accurately understood, represented, and accounted for across the company.

Some skills we consider critical to being a UX Researcher:

  • Familiarity with a range of qualitative research and testing methods and with design principles and tools.

  • Experience working with product teams to ship user-facing mobile projects.

  • Excellent communication in presenting research learnings and giving/receiving

    feedback.

  • Being an empathetic listener and observer.

  • An ability to ask questions and think outside the box.

  • A passion for impactful financial technology.

  • Being a humble, quick learner who’s comfortable with change.

  • B.S. Degree or Master's Degree in anthropology, psychology, human computer interaction, human factors, or related field is highly desired. Significant experience may replace the degree requirement.
