Rebel Labs

Rebel Labs is a cool new Los Angeles- & Austin-based startup leading a research-based revolution in the wellness arena. We are here to teach millennials to build a healthy life, providing every building block of knowledge from food to fitness. Our online classes and vibrant social media community will empower and inspire individuals to live their best lives.

We offer competitive start-up salaries, terrific health benefits, flexible PTO, opportunities for stock options, and a fun culture that includes plentiful fitness and nutrition programs.

Rebel Labs is committed to creating huge value for millennials that are looking to improve their health. We are looking to offer out-of-the-ordinary results, and an exceptional client experience through everything we do from marketing to fulfillment.

Position Summary:

We are looking to hire a senior-level UX/UI designer who can help design the first generation Rebel Labs mobile app to complement our existing media platform and website and ensure that all platforms (iOS, Android, web) have a consistent and great user experience. This is a full-time position, and based in Round Rock (north Austin), TX.

You’ll work closely with Product and Engineering to design the app and help shape its implementation, as well as continue to handle design for new functionality on both mobile and web. As part of this, you'll help establish the Rebel Labs visual brand.

Our ideal candidate is someone who has previously designed iOS apps and web applications and loves working with both a blank canvas and existing designs. You’re able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment with lots of fun challenges. You manage your time well, and are able to work as part of a distributed team.

We are looking to bring online nutrition, cooking, fitness, and yoga classes to millennials around the planet, so ideally you are already interested in the arena of health & wellness.

If you’re an experienced UX/UI designer who wants to use your skills to change the lives of millennials for the better, then this may be the opportunity you’ve been looking for.

Your responsibilities:
Design the new Rebel Labs iOS app from scratch.
Update the design and brand of the Rebel Labs media platform (and website) to ensure a consistent cross-platform experience.
Create both high fidelity and low fidelity visual designs to support the entire product development lifecycle, delivering both documentation and assets.
Collaborate with Product and Engineering from concept all the way through implementation, iteratively incorporating user and internal feedback to enhance and refine your designs.
Work with Product to understand user needs and design simple yet powerful workflows to enhance the user experience and grow engagement.
Provide thought leadership around Rebel Labs’ visual branding and user experience.
Help establish Rebel Labs' design practice.

Your qualifications:
3+ years experience designing mobile apps and web applications.
Familiarity with modern UI design guidelines (and Apple guidelines) and best practices, and understand mobile-first design.
Proficiency with common design tools, e.g., Illustrator, Photoshop, Invision, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Gliffy, etc. Thought leadership is appreciated in this area--we're somewhat technology agnostic.
Able to work directly with users/customers/partners to understand and document their needs, goals, and feedback.
You regularly consider the entire user experience, looking beyond just the immediate design challenge and feature.
You’re detail-oriented, have an execution focus, and can confidently drive projects to results.
You’re adaptable and work well in an environment that is changing and evolving. You are flexible. You recognize that priorities can change.
You are a team player and want to work for a company with a purpose.

Bonus points if you have:
Designed an iOS app from scratch.
Experience designing Android apps.
Ability to do rapid prototyping on iOS, Android, and web to demonstrate and solicit feedback on proposed design and functionality.
Experience with conducting detailed user research, user interviews, and design workshops.
An interest in health and wellness.

Do we sound like a good fit? If so, please reach out ASAP, because we are ready to hit the ground running NOW! We are looking forward to welcoming you on board and having you on our Rebel Labs team.
