Satchel as a brand has become synonymous with education. We are the number 1 educational application on Android and during the 2018 back to school period, we were in the top 3 of all applications on iOS.

Satchel is now looking for a User researcher to help define and deliver new product as part of our expansion beyond Show My Homework into other areas of EdTech. Reporting to the Head of Engineering and acting as the principal interface between the Product and other teams, the successful candidate will play an instrumental role in the delivery of the business roadmap.

Principle responsibilities

- Define, plan, and conduct user research
- Be the lead on internal research practices
- Communicate learnings to the product and design team
- Help refine user experience through quantitive and qualitative research methods
- Expand the routes through which we collect feedback from our users and strive to increase the quality of said feedback.

Essential skills and experience

- Experience working in a researcher role, preferably in an agile environment within tech startup or small company.
- Comfortable with quantitative research methods, able to identify key metrics and construct A/B tests.
- Understanding of how to determine the right mix of qualitative and quantitative research for a particular project.
- Dedicated advocate of a user-centred approach to product development.
- Great presentation skills, able to communicate results to stakeholders across the business.
- Experience doing user testing face to face with customers.
- Ability to create effective low fidelity mockups/wireframes where necessary.

Desirable but not essential

- A degree in HCI, Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Social Science, or a related field.
- Experience working in education
