UI Designer

Upgrade Pack

We are now recruiting for a UI Designer, reporting to the Product Designer, to become part of a new team working on a new product that will define a whole new category.

Our ideal candidate will have a passion for design, with an amazing eye for detail, who can transform high-level requirements and wireframes into clean, beautiful and intuitive user interfaces that will delight our users.

Working within and contributing to our established design systems, we are looking for someone who can innovate and evolve a design and translate it into an effective experience. Though you won’t need to code, you will need to understand the possibilities and constraints of development and be able to work with those frameworks.

We value a natural design eye over years of experience, so perhaps you’ve worked in an agency or small company but are now looking to work in a fast-paced start-up environment.

You’ll have all of the tools you need – outstanding developers, product managers, and some of the best clients and partners in the world. We’ll give you lots of mentoring, autonomy, collaboration, ambition and vision– as well as the support of an experienced VP. Along with a promise and commitment to make design, brand, beauty, and magic priorities when we consider what our users see, touch, and experience.

Our blank canvas opportunity means we need to hire someone who can juggle, prioritise, control, improve, problem solve, and communicate. Our ideal candidate will probably have a good understanding of UX but it’s your UI design skills – and desire to make every user interaction a beautiful one – that we’re most interested in.

Requirements:

= Proven experience working as a UI Designer or similar

= Experience designing for mobile and web experiences

= A natural collaborator. Our designers work with with UX, Developers, Product Managers and Commercial

= A passion for design, brand, and typography

= Ability to effectively communicate ideas with low fidelity sketches and to take on board constructive criticism

= A good understanding of what is technically feasible

= Demonstrable ability to deliver beautiful and individual designs

= A problem solver – either individually, in small groups, or as a whole team

= Great organisational skills, the ability to estimate your tasks accurately and to juggle multiple work streams

= The ability to talk to design and non-design / tech and non-tech people equally

= Good communication and a desire to solicit regular feedback from others and is eager to find ways to improve

= Experience working as part of an Agile / Lean development process

= Ability to estimate your tasks accurately

= An ‘on your feet’ thinker, used to making resources and assets (time, imagery, video, copy, iconography, wayfinding, etc) work hard

= The confidence to try new things and to sell them to the team

= The type of personality that thrives in a fast paced, and often pivoting, atmosphere where new ideas can change everything all at once on an almost daily basis

= Experience with industry standard software – including Adobe, InVision, Zeplin and Sketch

Nice to haves:

= Experience in a fast-moving new technology company

= Experience with online marketplaces

= Experience working with travel brands

= Experience working with financial services brands

= Hands-on experience working with photography (commissioned, stock, or self-shot)

= Experience creating flexible designs for international markets
