UI Designer

About this Position

The Appraisal Lane is creating a better way for dealers to buy and sell used cars. Our apps allow dealerships to communicate with a community of experts to accurately value trade-ins.

We are looking for an exceptional UI Designer to to create clean and creative experiences for our community-based suite of applications. You should be comfortable in both web and mobile platforms, and possess the ability to stretch outside of their comfort zone and push their boundaries. You will work in a fast-paced environment and interface directly with our talented group of 30+ engineers and company stakeholders. Be ready to champion your ideas and bring them to life in an agile development life-cycle.

Responsibilities

• Craft the interactions, visuals, and design assets for mobile and web platforms
• Release and refine components and workflows
• Participate in product decisions from definition to release
• Improve designs based on logs, interviews, surveys, etc.
• Work with product owners and stakeholders to understand requirements for new and existing features
• Create low, medium, and high fidelity designs
• Collaborate with developers during sprints to answer questions and validate features as they are being developed
• Create and maintain a design system that can be used across both web and mobile platforms
• Establish best practices and standards to be used by product and engineering

Skills

• A passion for building great products and experiences
• Broad knowledge of design concepts including: interface design, designing for mobile devices, prototyping, and design systems development
• Demonstrable UI design skills with a strong portfolio - you can point to at least 2 apps that you have designed and released
• Be detail-oriented and have highly developed organizational skills including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
• Able to communicate design ideas to product, development, and company leaders
• Proficient with design tools like Sketch, InVision, Zeppelin, and others

Experience

• Must have had a high level of participation in several enterprise-level or consumer applications
• Must have experience shipping software with many active users
• Must have experience creating new software and extending existing software
• A Knowledge of mobile design patterns and guidelines for both Android and iOS

• This is a full-time position at our laid-back corporate office located near 2222/360 in Austin, Texas. Out-of-area candidates can be considered, but no relocation allowance is available.
