Junior UX/UI Designer

We’re looking for an experienced and ambitious Junior UX/UI Designer to support on the build and iteration of a set of products across the Tech City Ventures network of companies.
You love taking complex ideas, workflows and concepts and turning them into user experiences that are efficient and that delight. You’ll delight in testing your designs and concepts on real users, and rapidly iterate designs based on user feedback. You’ll relish in being given a challenging problem and being given free rein to come with solutions. Rapid iteration and user-driven development are your friends.
DAY TO DAY, YOU'll BE:
- Participating in all phases of product development lifecycle, including product ideation and definition, strategy, UI design and user research and testing
- Creating sketches, site flows, wireframes and high-fidelity prototypes to tell compelling stories on all screen sizes
- Completing designs iteratively that meet business goals and requirements while maintaining and thoughtfully refining design patterns and UI standards
- Perpetually demonstrating expertise UI/UX design both in discussion and practice
WHAT THIS MEANS IN PRACTICE IS THAT YOU'LL:
- Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product managers and engineers
- Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps
- Design graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs and widgets
- Build page navigation buttons and search fields
- Develop UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and look like
- Create original graphic designs (e.g. images, sketches and tables)
- Prepare and present rough drafts to internal teams and key stakeholders
- Identify and troubleshoot UX problems (e.g. responsiveness)
- Conduct layout adjustments based on user feedback
- Adhere to style standards on fonts, colours and images
YOU'LL HAVE:
- Proven work experience as a UI/UX Designer or similar role
- A strong portfolio of work, specifically in product design, showcasing UX and visual skills
- Experience in designing a wide range of digital assets
- A good understanding of Typography, Composition, and Grid Systems
- Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user experience
- Uncanny strong user intuition with the desire to test those assumptions
- Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS
- BSc in Design, Computer Science or relevant field
