UX/UI DESIGNER

Stitch & Story is the modern solution for the amateur crafter. Our mission is to reinvent the traditional concept of knitting to inspire a new generation of hobbyists looking for personalised, meaningful and ethical goods.  We invite our users to discover our knitting and crochet kits, yarns, patterns and craft products, and share in our online crafting community, how-to blogs, online tutorials, and workshop events.

 

Founded by Jen and Jen back in 2012, we have expanded and developed our range of craft kits which are stocked in Liberty, Fenwicks and Nordstrom. Join our team and helps us share our passion for crafting. We value user-centred design and you will be contributing to the design-thinking culture where you’ll be involved in every aspect of the product development process from brainstorming to the pixel-perfect final designs. You are a problem solver and team player, keen to take our product to the next level together with the rest of our team. We are looking for a UX/UI designer with some experience - you may be a junior designer, keen to get to the next level, or middleweight with some relevant work to show off your skills.  

 

 

ABOUT THE ROLE:

 

  • Design beautiful and effective solutions to solve our business and customer pain points
  • Work collaboratively with our Senior Product Designer and help define and evolve our e-commerce platform
  • Design flows and experiences that are incredibly simple and elegant
  • Test and iterate on designs to help ensure we’re solving problems with the best solutions
  • Give and ask for feedback from other designers in order to continually raise our bar for quality
  • Work in partnership with external companies to ensure progress of website and that business goals are met and high quality deliverables
  • Follow design and business KPIs goals 
  • Understand our users create/evolve our user personas
  • Able to take feedback and direction and able to work independently 
  • Report to Senior Product Designer
  • Full-time position, Monday-Friday based in North Greenwich, London

ABOUT YOU:

  • 1-2 years’ experience as a UX/UI designer
  • Design-related degree or equivalent
  • A keen interest in the crafts industry
  • Have a portfolio featuring examples of relevant design work
  • Understanding of front-end programming - you don’t have to code but have an idea of how things are built
  • Good communication skills - you should be able to clearly articulate your design decisions
  • Desire to share knowledge, and curious and excited about learning
  • Able to multi-task and understand priorities within the team and the business
  • Familiar with Sketch, Zeplin and any prototyping tool, like InVision
  • Basic knowledge of Google Analytics and understand how data can shape product decisions 

GOOD TO HAVE:

  • Exposure or experience with Shopify
  • Experience working in an e-commerce business or startup
