One big part of the problem is being locked out of accessing financial goods and services on fair terms. Another is not having any rainy day funds for when things go wrong. And this is all made worse by a lack of financial education, meaning few of us feel empowered to improve our financial health. About the role

You will:

  • Work with our Product Design Manager and as part of cross functional teams on projects across the product development cycle; from the exploration of the sketchiest initial concept, to the delivery of high quality products to our members
  • Be the custodian of our UX/UI design system and its processes; designing new components, layouts, grids, flows and interactions, and working with our development team to ensure that it is evolving to be fit for purpose
  • Take ideas and concepts and bring them to life through wireframing and prototyping
  • Plan and conduct user research and testing to build empathy with our members
  • Be a pixel perfectionist, as well as a design thinker; you’ll be able to design beautiful functional interfaces that delight our members, and you'll be able to gather insight and apply it strategically to your design work, driving better outcomes for our members and the business
  • Continually look to improve and evolve our process by trying new techniques and removing obsolete ones to ultimately ship better products
  • Contribute to the product strategy and roadmap to deliver on our mission

Our HQ is in Bristol, and you'd be welcome to work from there if that is convenient.

 

About you

You will be someone who:

  • Has at least 3 years of proven experience shipping amazing consumer products in a fast-growing company before
  • Has a strong portfolio of consumer-grade interfaces and experiences that you’ve designed across different products and features
  • Has experience designing for both web and native mobile applications 
  • Has experience working with developers to manage designs systems across web and native experiences
  • Has experience with modern design and research tools. You’ll have mastered the likes of Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and Miro
  • Understands accessibility standards (WCAG AA) to help us strive towards shipping products that are inclusive and accessible to everyone
  • Is fascinated by your users; keen to research, learn, test and iterate every step of the way
  • Is a collaborative team player with persuasive communication and presentation skills, and has worked in cross-functional agile teams
  • Has a hands-on attitude and an entrepreneurial problem-solving spirit
  • Is a self-organised and a self-starter
  • Has excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, technically conversant and able to collaborate easily with developers, designers, product managers and the wider business team
  • Is comfortable working at pace within a changing start-up/scale-up environment
  • Has experience operating in commercial environments where delivering to deadlines is imperative to the success of the business

If you have experience in any of the following, even better:

  • Experience in FinTech or finance
  • Experience of UserTesting.com

The application process

We aim to move as fast as possible once we find the right person. As a guide, the below steps usually take 2 to 3 weeks:

  • Step 1: a 15 minute chat with our CPO so we can get to know each other better
  • Step 2: a 60 minute interview with our CPO and our Product Design Manager where we discuss your experience in depth (any work that you can show to support this conversation would be super helpful!)
  • Step 3: a 30 minute interview with one of our CEO/founders and our CPO so you can hear about the great mission we’re on from one of our founders
