Hipcamp

Hipcamp is looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our distributed development team to work on the Host side of our two sided marketplace. The ideal candidate has +5 years experience designing and iterating on consumer facing products (UX/UI). If you’re passionate about the outdoors and would like to work in a fast-paced startup environment remotely from just about anywhere (In the US/Canada) then we want you!

About Hipcamp
Hipcamp unlocks access to private land, creating new places for people to get outside and go camping. We believe that spending time in nature is essential to a happy and healthy human life, and we are passionate about our mission to get more people outside. We are deeply proud of the impact Hipcamp creates by making nature more accessible, providing income to support the protection of private land, and creating community across the urban-rural divide.

Hipcamp’s product culture is built on a deep and genuine commitment to helping people connect with the outdoors. To us, product doesn’t mean just Hipcamp.com and our mobile apps—it also means the actual campsites and the on-the-ground experience our guests and hosts have. This is a chance to flex your big picture thinking and contribute to a product that spans both online and offline experiences.

About the Position
Hipcamp is looking for a Senior Product Designer who is passionate about building and scaling exceptional consumer products through rapid periods of growth. You will be at the forefront of this growth where you will contribute to designing and iterating on the Host side of our two sided marketplace. You will report directly to and work closely with our Head of Design, Julian Bialowas. You will execute every step of the design process, from taking lead on the brainstorming of broad ideas, to working with engineering through feature development.

This is a remote/distributed position (US/Canada)

About you
Hello, fellow designer! We’re so happy you’re here. We’ve heard a lot of great things about you:

You’re empathetic and kind to others. You’re not afraid to ask for help and know how to provide and receive constructive feedback. EQ is important to you.

You’re passionate about designing exceptional products. You’re used to managing multiple projects with ease. You know how, and when, to adapt and make trade-offs through the design and development process. Your design specs make engineers smile. You take pride in your design's attention to detail, but know done is better than perfect.

You download new apps for the sole purpose of experiencing their onboarding flows. You always find yourself trying to identify fonts on menus (much to your friends dismay). You know the difference between an em dash and en dash (and point out when the wrong one is used).

About our Work Environment
Compensation will be a mix of salary and stock options. It is based on your location and will be highly competitive compared to similar-stage companies.

Health is essential to happiness. In addition to full health insurance, all team members receive a monthly wellness stipend and $1K in Hipcash because we believe getting outside is excellent preventative medicine in addition to increasing your creativity, lowering your stress, and making you an overall more awesome human.

We focus on results, not hours. We believe that clearly defined goals combined with great people, empowerment, and autonomy create the best results. We feel confident that inclusive and diverse teams working on an important cause can accomplish extraordinary things.
