Senior Product Designer

Yardzen

At Yardzen, we believe people are at their best when they’re outside.

We have a simple promise: help people envision the outdoor spaces of their dreams, all online, and then match them with the right local contractors to bring their design to life. Since our launch in 2018, we’ve helped thousands of homeowners achieve their dream yards, make environmentally responsible decisions, boost their property values and get more out of their outdoor spaces.

We are disrupting the $200 billion outdoor renovation industry. By leveraging technology and creating an innovative online process, we offer a more straightforward, transparent, and delightful design and build experience for the modern homeowner. We’ve been recognized as a Fast Company Most Innovative Company, named to Inc. Magazine’s Best Places to Work, and written about by Architectural Digest, The New York Times, Sunset Magazine, House Beautiful, The Wall Street Journal, and Forbes. And we’re just getting started.

We’re looking for a solutions-oriented Senior Product Designer to take Yardzen’s product experience to the next level and advance our mission. You’ll create design solutions that drive revenue, increase customer satisfaction, and cultivate innovation across the customer journey. The ideal candidate knows how to align business strategy with human interaction and usability methodologies for a broad audience.

This is a critical cross-functional role that will have a meaningful impact on the Product team. You will work closely with Product, Engineering, and Marketing and have significant exposure to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Create user flows, site maps, wireframes, visual designs, low and high-fidelity interactive prototypes for product changes and new functionality.
    • Create design systems, modules, elements, and components to ensure consistency throughout the entire customer journey.
    • Discuss design ideas and communicate project updates to senior management on a regular basis.
    • Partner with engineering in making sure final design files are “development ready” and can be implemented effectively in code.
    • Help define product requirements and specifications with the Product team.

    • Help drive conversion rate improvements and ideate experiments by deeply understanding prospective customer behavior, identifying friction
    • Collaborate and prioritize A/B tests to measure the impact of your design changes and further optimize performance

    • Conduct usability studies to identify areas throughout the customer journey
    • Test new product concepts and prototypes to validate assumptions and hypotheses

    • Create experiences that are ADA and WCAG compliant.

About you:

    • 3+ years as a high performing Product Designer, including experience in a consumer-facing retail / eCommerce environment
    • Extensive experience communicating design solutions via presentations, wireframes, click-through prototypes and design specifications
    • Expertise in user-centered design principles, and best practices for user testing and user research
    • Data-driven and know how to monitor success through analytics and metrics
    • Track record of driving continual improvement via experimentation and A/B tests
    • Organized and process-oriented, with careful attention to detail
    • Appreciation for beautiful design and a strong brand aesthetic
    • Experience working with Figma
    • Great collaborator with excellent communication and presentation skills for both business and engineering teams; receptive to feedback
    • Have an online portfolio so you can show us your approach and design work
    • Comfortable being the only Product Designer at Yardzen and excited to be a part of a start-up environment

Additionally:

    • You believe in the benefits of outdoor living
    • You’re energized by playing an important role in driving revenue and having an impact of the business
    • You embrace change and lead with a growth mindset
    • You’re a real teammate and would be described by those who know you as a genuinely kind person.
    • Culture is critical in the early days and we’re looking for goodness and grit.
