By joining Datavant today, you’re stepping onto a highly collaborative, remote-first team that is passionate about creating transformative change in healthcare. We invest in our people and believe in hiring for high-potential and humble individuals who can rapidly grow their responsibilities as the company scales. Datavant is a distributed, remote-first team, and we empower Datavanters to shape their working environment in a way that suits their needs.

We are seeking a UX Researcher with a strong background in user research to lead discovery and inform the design process. You’ll understand user needs, a deep understanding of user-centered design principles, and a proven track record of successfully executing research projects through the entire product development cycle. You should have experience in discovery research for new markets with a goal of yielding invaluable insights to enable faster and more informed decision-making.

Partnering closely with cross-organizational stakeholders, the UX researcher will take the lead in critical user research, comprehensive testing, and refinement of solutions to deliver strong product market fit. You will collaborate with our clients and internal teams to gather insights, inform design decisions, and help us decide what to build, not just how to build it. If this sounds exciting to you, we’d love for you to apply!

You Will:

  • Own the end-to-end research process, from planning and executing studies to synthesizing findings.
  • Lead generative and evaluative user research to gather insights and inform design and product decisions that reflect the voice of the customer.
  • Build user personas that reflect customer needs throughout the user journey in order to build intuitive and effective workflows.
  • Create user journey maps to visualize the end-to-end experience and identify pain points.
  • Translate research findings into actionable insights for frontend execution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, Customer Experience, Sales, and Marketing, to incorporate stakeholder feedback.
  • Work closely with technical teams to understand the product functionality and constraints of the application, finding creative solutions for tough problems.
  • Champion a user-centric mindset within the organization, advocating for the importance of UX research in decision-making processes.

What You Will Bring to the Table:

  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in user research and design
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating your research projects and their impact on product design and execution - strongly preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders and cross-functional teams, including efficiently communicating impact of key findings
  • Finesse in adeptly negotiating client sensitivities and guardrails to strengthen B2B relationships via research interactions
  • Solid understanding of user-centered design methods across the full UX lifecycle
  • Experience with research methodologies such as user interviews, surveys, and usability testing
  • Proficiency in tools like Figma for workflows and design collaboration
  • Ability to both lead research projects and actively contribute to the wider program of work

Bonus Points if:

  • You have prior experience in working:
    • with data products
    • within the healthcare industry
    • in B2B settings
  • You are highly organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
