Key Responsibilities

Deliver best-in-class user experiences (interactive and experience) in a fast-paced, agile, startup environment
Communicate conceptual ideas by producing design deliverables such as sketches, scenarios, wireframes, prototypes, mockups, and journey maps
Identify customer needs and strategic opportunities. Create compelling designs and make sound UX decisions to improve productivity
Closely collaborate with product managers and developers to conceptualize, test, build, and ship well-rounded and high-quality solutions that balance user needs, business priorities, and technical constraints.
Pair with other UX designers to provide peer review and maintain consistency across all areas of the product
Contribute to the continuous improvement of UX processes and tools

Qualifications

3+ years of product design experience; experience in a start-up environment and with internal systems preferred
Familiarity with current industry design and collaboration tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, Github, InVision, Zeplin etc
Solid communication skills and the ability to articulate the rationale for design decisions by leveraging qualitative and quantitative data
Strong aesthetic sensibility and appreciation of good visual design
Knowledge of modern front-end systems, open source frameworks and responsive design
Experience with agile delivery methodology
Experience in taking a consultative approach with stakeholders and product owners
A strong desire to learn, teach and grow alongside your team members

About the Role

Based at Warwick this is a new role for a Head of Product Design to lead the Business Analysts and User Experience Designers to set and evolve the creative direction of the Summit Automotive platform. Working closely with the Product Manager and Head of Platform, you will ensure that the product requirements from both client and internal stakeholders are translated into high-quality user stories and user interface deliverables so that platform development is undertaken to exact product specifications.

Being a lead product design role, you will be comfortable in owning the product design strategy and balancing the commercial needs of the business with client and internal stakeholder needs, ensuring the Business Analysts and UX Designers have the right focus and direction.

This permanent opportunity is for a Head of Product Design who has the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and bring a high level of strategy and governance into a start-up environment. The Automotive teams are based from central London (Soho) and Warwick, with third-party teams in Romania and Prague. We are looking for someone to be based out of our Warwick for the majority, with travel to our other sites as and when required.

About You

With extensive working experience and knowledge in a medium to large-scale web and e-commerce environment, you will have operated at a similar "Head of" level where you have set and owned the product design strategy on one or more platforms that are imperative to an organisations business strategy and growth plan.

Working across Client Delivery Managers, Project Managers and Product Management you will ensure platform requirements are correctly collated, prioritised, documented and delivered efficiently to internal and external development teams, supported by the relevant user experience requirements to support development. You will have:

Demonstrable experience in leading UX teams to deliver a strong portfolio of work showcasing UX and visual skills.
Demonstrable experience in leading Business Analysts teams to collate platform requirements to inform the product design and development lifecycle.

UX Designer - Senior

The Senior UX Designer plays a critical role in supporting the on-time visual design and delivery of enterprise-wide web-based e-commerce / retailing systems to the Automotive industry. Working within the Delivery team you are responsible for the build, design and delivery of a custom prototype. Taking direction from both client and internal stakeholders as to the requirements of a specific client’s implementation project.

This is step by step customer journey mapping and UI design. This ranges from; creating process flows, concept sketches, low fidelity prototypes for all platforms (Mobile and desktop), high-resolution designs in Figma, etc. We would need this person to articulate design recommendations in a client-facing setting and to facilitate the transfer of knowledge to Developers with a common repository of user stories.

As a Senior, this role will report in the UX Lead, supporting the mentoring and coaching of other members of the team and reviewing team output where necessary. This is a challenging and rewarding role with exposure to global Automotive clients, typically 50% production and 50% communications/stakeholder management.

About You

A knowledgeable Senior UX Designer who can work well within a commercial and fast-paced delivery focused environment, with:

Previous experience within a client-facing UX role essential
Experience within a senior level UX role and coaching of other team members.
An in-depth understanding of user experience in e-commerce, including journey mapping
Hands-on experience using Axure, Figma amongst other industry leading tools
Ability to work quickly and accurately while creating wireframes and clickable prototypes for client/user feedback
Highly articulate, can absorb complex information and break this down into clear summaries and/or recommendations for the client through effective communication
\nExperience using analytical tools (such as Google Analytics) is essential
\n
\nStrong senior stakeholder management skills, ability to negotiate and manage expectations

Proven experience of delivering quality work to strict deadlines
Analytical, with experience of using data to inform design decisions\n
