As our team’s first designer, you’ll join our CEO, Chalon Bridges, and CPO, Nick Barr. Most recently, Chalon was COO for DIY.org and Nick drove product strategy at Khan Academy. We’re creating a work environment that supports and amplifies the potential of each person who joins our team - including you.

You won’t be given a specific, narrow role. Instead, you will work fluidly and collaboratively with the rest of the organization through all aspects of the design process. In our first year, expect plenty of user research, product design at various levels of fidelity, and even diving into the code with engineers. Given this, you should have a broad set of design skills and thrive in under-defined situations.

Your Role

• Develop a deep understanding of users and stakeholders, and uncover ways to make them more successful
• Generate and validate design concepts via wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams, driving solutions from inception to launch to iteration. Bonus if you can dive into the codebase to make basic changes
• Create and own a design process that facilitates transparency, collaboration, and rapid validation with users
• Create and own a product design system that establishes an identity and accelerates team velocity
• Help hire, mentor and establish a design culture within the company that is diverse from day one


Your Superpowers

• Extensive experience designing well-loved experiences for mobile devices
• Communicating ideas visually and in writing, and soliciting and acting on feedback
• Championing accessibility and ease-of-use over novelty
• An unwavering belief that the little things matter
• Conducting user research and translating it into roadmap-driving insights
• Managing time and projects efficiently and transparently, ensuring launches are on-time and high-quality
• Preference for ambiguity, open-ended problems, and wildly difficult challenges
