Starmind is hiring Freelance UI/UX Designer

We're seeking a freelance UI/UX designer for maternity cover starting in early May 2025. This position offers an exciting opportunity to significantly impact our product's user experience and strategic direction.

Working closely with our Head of Product and development team, you'll shape our product's design vision by designing new features and enhancing existing features and integrations. Our hybrid work environment, centered in our Zurich office, provides flexibility. We anticipate the workload to be around 20-30% of a full time role and will be an on demand contract. In order to best work with us, it would be beneficial if you already had your own freelancing entity set up that you're able to invoice us from based on the work completed each month.

What You Will Do

• You will delight users with design that inspires, engages, and excites them
• Design end-to-end experiences from low-fidelity sketches to hi-fidelity pixel perfect solutions
• Rapidly ideate and validate concepts through sketches, prototypes, and testing with users
• Improve and maintain our design system and advocate for scalable design solutions
• Setup and run UX research activities to validate ideas and designs when it is required
• Collaborate with the engineering team working remotely in the CE(S)T timezone, providing design support and answering any questions
• Share industry trends, user feedback and insights from UX research with the team
• Benchmark competitors and other solutions

Who You Are

• You must be able to demonstrate experience dealing with ambiguity, competing priorities and still be able to deliver projects on time 
• You will be able to show us your visual design skills by sharing a solid portfolio of interactive projects
• You can make sense of complexity with great information architecture and expert in user journey mapping and jobs-to-be-done
• Proficient in working with various product design and prototyping tools (Figma is a plus)
• Fluent in English, written and spoken (German proficiency is not required but a plus)
• You will understand how to set up and conduct user research, usability testing and accessibility and be able to create a proposal or plan of action from the results generated
• You will have demonstrable experience of cross-platform design and curating user experiences (Web, Android, iOS)
• You are familiar with accessibility standards and are committed to creating inclusive designs.

Bonus skills

• Knowledge in the field of animation, motion graphics or prototyping software
• Knowledge of and ability to code in HTML, CSS, or applicable programming language
