About This Position
We’re looking for a seasoned User Experience Designer to join Bookshop.org’s small but mighty Product team! This individual will help us envision the future of our e-commerce website and app experiences, as well as drive incremental improvements to our existing experiences.
You will work closely with product managers, developers, and other team members to create intuitive, user-centered designs. You will be responsible for the entire user experience process—from user research and wireframing to prototyping to A/B testing to final designs. Your work will have a direct impact on the way users interact with our products and services, which in turn will help further our mission of supporting independent booksellers.
Areas of Responsibility
User Research: Conduct user interviews, surveys, and usability tests to gather insights and understand user needs, pain points, and behaviors.
Wireframing & Prototyping: Create wireframes, user flows, and interactive prototypes to communicate design concepts and functionality effectively.
Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with product managers, developers, and other designers to define requirements and translate business objectives into intuitive user experiences.
Design Solutions: Develop and maintain consistent design systems, user interfaces, and user journeys that align with the overall product vision.
Usability Testing: Conduct usability testing and iterate on designs based on user feedback and testing results.
Multivariate Testing: Test all design and copy changes using an MVT testing tool to ensure statistically significant improvements in key metrics, including conversion rates.
Stay Current: Keep up to date with industry trends, tools, and best practices to enhance user experiences and design processes.
Requirements
Experience: 5+ years of experience in UX design / UX research
Portfolio: A strong portfolio showcasing your design process and user-centered designs.
Tools: Proficiency in Figma and with multivariate testing tools
Skills: Solid understanding of user-centered design principles, wireframing, prototyping, multivariant A/B testing, and usability testing.
Collaboration: Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
Problem-solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to tackle complex design challenges.
Adaptability: Ability to iterate and evolve design concepts based on feedback and testing.
Bonus Points
Experience with front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices.
Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
Work Hours, Salary, and Benefits
This is a full-time, exempt position, reporting to the VP of Product Management.
We offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, including: medical, dental, and vision coverage; health and wellness benefits; 401K with automatic company contribution; paid vacation, personal, and sick time; 13 paid company holidays; and informal half-day Fridays most of the year. The starting salary for this position is between $120,000-$150,000 per year.
At this time, Bookshop.org is 100% remote. Bookshop.org employees must be authorized to work in the United States, and may work from anywhere in the US.
