POSITION

540 is building out a brand new team and looking for a UI/UX Designer to help the federal government #GetShitDone. You'll be helping design and build applications using modern open source technologies hosted on AWS. You’ll be part of an agile team including React Developers, Java Developers, Data Engineers, DevSecOps Engineers, UI/UX Designers, Business Analysts and Scrum Masters. This position can expect 2-3 days work from home and possibility for full remote, but only for candidates local to the DC metro area.

PROJECT

You can expect a fast-paced environment in which the team will be providing development, security and operations services that include artificial intelligence and machine learning to support USCIS Information Technology System Delivery. The USCIS administers the nation's lawful immigration system, safeguarding its integrity and promise by efficiently and fairly adjudicating requests for immigration benefits while protecting Americans, securing the homeland, and honoring our values.

ABOUT THE FIRM

You can expect a fast-paced environment in which the team will be providing development, security and operations services that include artificial intelligence and machine learning to support USCIS Biometrics. The USCIS administers the nation's lawful immigration system, safeguarding its integrity and promise by efficiently and fairly adjudicating requests for immigration benefits while protecting Americans, securing the homeland, and honoring our values.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

* 3+ years of related UI/UX experience
* Deep understanding of User-Centered design
* A portfolio that shows your process and deliverables for a variety of digital experiences
* Experience producing user flows, journey maps, wireframes and mockups
* Working understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript
* Experience interviewing key stakeholders
* Experience working with business analysts to understand critical user or functional needs
* Ability to translate complex functional tasks into visuals that are easy to understand
* Excellent verbal, written and visual communication skills
* Bachelor's Degree in Visual Design, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Computer Science or related field
* Must have or be able to obtain a security clearance

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

* Experience working with developers to validate features have been built correctly
* Understanding of modern agile software development practices
* Understanding of content strategy methods and best practices
* Experience working with the government, specifically with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
