We're looking for a Senior AI Research Engineer to join Rossum's product-oriented applied AI Research team. Our mission is to leverage cutting-edge AI and intuitive UI to eliminate useless paperwork, empowering businesses worldwide to move faster. You'll help us with the following questions and challenges:

• How can we design and implement state-of-the-art AI/ML solutions that solve complex document processing problems, from initial concept to robust production deployment?

• What are the most effective ways to integrate the latest AI/ML trends and technologies into our platform, continuously pushing the boundaries of what's possible?

• How do we ensure our AI solutions are not only performant and reliable but also seamlessly integrated and impactful for our users and customers?

The Role

You'll be responsible for:

• Driving end-to-end AI projects: From idea generation and model prototyping to deployment, ensuring smooth transitions and robust performance in production.

• Collaborating cross-functionally with Product, AI Platform, and Data Annotation teams to identify high-impact use cases and deliver significant business value.

• Contributing to platform evolution by staying on top of AI/ML trends, evaluating new technologies, and integrating them into our platform.

• Championing quality & reliability, ensuring that AI solutions are performant, reliable, well-monitored, and maintainable.

• Mentoring and leading junior researchers or engineers, sharing best practices, and helping maintain high engineering standards.

Our product-oriented applied AI Research team operates with an agile workflow and scientific method at its core, embracing research, experimentation, and iterative development. You'll take end-to-end ownership of your work, with the freedom to innovate and shape the product. You'll directly contribute to Rossum's mission by building the AI backbone that is redefining how companies process critical information globally.

You'll work closely with a dedicated Tech Lead and Product Manager to ensure your work delivers maximum value. You'll also collaborate with the AI Platform and Annotation teams, all led by Rossum co-founder Tomáš Tunys.

You'll also have the opportunity to push the boundaries of what's possible with machine learning and AI in a fast-paced environment, directly impacting our global product.

About Our Tech Stack:

We pride ourselves on building a modern, scalable, and efficient AI pipeline and fostering a forward-thinking engineering culture.

• Main Programming Language: Python

• Frameworks & Libraries: PyTorch, PyTorch Lightning, Hugging Face Transformers, TensorFlow, NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn.

• MLOps: Kubeflow Pipelines, Kubernetes, Triton Inference Server, ONNX Runtime, vLLM.

• Tooling & Monitoring: JupyterLab, IPyWidgets/Holoviz-based debugging tools, Prometheus, Grafana, EFK stack.

• Databases & Hosting: PostgreSQL (with pgvector), GitLab (code repositories, CI/CD).

We're seeking Senior AI Research Engineers with extensive experience and a willingness to apply their AI/ML and engineering knowledge to transform the way the world operates through technology. Successful candidates typically possess:

• Advanced Programming Skills: Strong proficiency in Python, with exposure to AI/ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.) and modern software engineering practices (Git, CI/CD).

• Solid CS & Math Foundations: Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, optimization, probability, and statistics.

• Solid ML Foundations: Deep understanding of ML fundamentals and the underlying principles.

• ML Expertise: Proven track record of developing and deploying AI/ML models at scale.

• MLOps Experience: Familiarity with cloud-based environments (AWS/GCP/Azure) and orchestration tools like Kubeflow/Airflow/MLFlow.

• Ownership & Innovation: A self-starter mentality with a passion for finding creative, high-impact solutions.

• Communication & Collaboration: Ability to break down complex ideas for cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
