PPikPok is hiringExperienced UX/UI Designer
Who we are:
PikPok is a global video game studio with more than 25 years of experience, with offices in New Zealand and Colombia. In New Zealand, we operate as a medium-sized company, while the current structure in Colombia is that of a small business. Our team is multicultural, making English the primary working language.
We have a portfolio that spans games at various stages of the product lifecycle, supported by diverse revenue models, with a presence on mobile, PC, consoles, and virtual reality platforms. Today, we distribute our titles in more than 30 countries, connecting with players around the world.
About the role:
We are looking for a highly skilled Experienced UX/UI Designer who excels at bridging the gap between game mechanics and player interaction. In this role you are architecting seamless player journeys and implementing high-fidelity interfaces that balance aesthetic with technical functionality. We need a professional who understands how to translate complex game design requirements into intuitive, player-centric experiences directly within the game engine.
As an "Experienced" member of our team, you will operate with a high degree of autonomy, taking strategic operational responsibility for the user experience. You should be someone who anticipates design friction before it affects the player, identifies technical blockers in the UI pipeline before they arise, and serves as a reliable reference point for both the art and engineering teams.
We believe that valuable skills are gained from a variety of backgrounds, including non-traditional career paths. While we foster an environment of continuous growth and are committed to supporting your ongoing development, our work demands a high technical standard and a solid baseline of UX/UI knowledge. We need a professional ready to onboard and make meaningful contributions to our active projects in Unity. If you have the technical strength to deliver today and the passion to keep growing with us tomorrow, we strongly encourage your application.
The Experienced UX/UI Designer responsibilities include:
• Architect logical player journeys and navigation systems, translating game design requirements into detailed wireframes and user flows that ensure a frictionless and engaging experience.
• Design high-fidelity visual assets and interface layouts, creating polished menus and iconography that uphold the project’s aesthetic pillars.
• Take ownership of technical implementation in Unity, configuring UI prefabs, layouts, and components to ensure that design intent is preserved and optimized for performance.
• Understand the project’s context and proactively propose UX solutions that align with player archetypes and business goals, utilizing heuristic evaluations and competitor benchmarking without requiring constant supervision.
• Align your design labor with strategic project goals, demonstrating a deep understanding of the "why" behind every feature to ensure it supports development milestones and player engagement.
• Maintain and expand scalable Design Systems, ensuring visual consistency and professional-grade documentation across all UI components and libraries.
• Drive production efficiency and team growth by providing constructive feedback to ensure UX/UI standards are consistently met, elevating the collective craft of the studio.
• Collaborate cross-functionally as a proactive problem-solver, working closely with Engineers to hook up UI logic and with Game Designers to validate usability through iterative prototyping.
Requirements
The Experienced UX/UI Designer required knowledge and experience should include:
• 5+ years of proven experience, preferable in a studio environment (video games or related), with a strong focus on production for released or liveops titles.
• B2-C1 English proficiency (assessed).
• Bachelor degree in Design, Graphic Design, Systems engineering, or related fields, with a strong emphasis on Interaction Design and/or User Experience (UX).
• Expertise in usability principles, including the ability to synthesize data and playtest findings into actionable design iterations.
• Proven adaptive thinking, with the ability to resolve complex UX challenges and manage your own deliverables with a high degree of autonomy.
• Capacity to understand the project’s context and business goals, ensuring every design decision supports the product strategy.
• Ability to navigate complex design systems, anticipating potential friction points and proposing solutions that balance aesthetics with technical viability.
• Advanced knowledge of Figma use, including expert use of auto-layout, components, and interactive prototyping.
• Advanced knowledge of Adobe suite (Illustrator and Photoshop) to create 2D graphic assets for in-engine implementation.
• Practical technical implementation skills in Unity, with experience managing UI assets, prefabs, and understanding engine workflows.
• Strong communication skills, with the maturity to collaborate and align his work with the broader studio vision.
• High degree of self-management to prioritize tasks and make informed decisions based on project needs and player data.
Other desirable knowledge
• Understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies, with experience working in iterative development environments.
• Experience in 2D asset production (illustration).
• Familiarity with Version Control Systems (Sourcetree, Plastic SCM).
