FarePilot

FarePilot (www.farepilot.com) is a geographical recommendations app, powered by machine learning. We assist drivers to find customers faster based on their location, linking to Google Maps and Waze to get them there in the most intelligent and efficient manner. Our app uses live information about where the busiest places are (along with some clever maths) and by going to the places shown the driver should be able to get more 'pings', more often, and spend less time waiting for their next customer.

The current team size is just over 20 people including both technical and commercial experts (developers, engineers, product managers, data scientists, marketers and business operations). We are now seeking a senior UX designer to help us realise our ambitious product roadmap.

As our Product Designer, you will primarily work on designing our mobile app experiences, prototyping new features, running user tests (both in lab and guerrilla, by talking to Uber and other ride-hail drivers on the job) and working closely with our UI designer and data science and engineering teams to ensure your designs are delivered perfectly.

Your Responsibilities:
Strong background designing native mobile apps (both iOS and Android)
Experience delivering assets and prototypes directly to developers (and overall working closely together)
Being comfortable joining a product team / project with an existing design system
Experience working in agile teams
Deep knowledge of iOS’ Human Interface Guidelines and Android’s Material Design
Experience translating and maintaining the same design language across different platforms
Develop and iterate UX prototypes for features to expand and improve our core product, both against our feature roadmap and through proposing them yourself.
Develop and iterate UX designs for our website, and internal web-based data visualisation tools.
Plan, schedule, script and carry out appropriate user tests and present the results to relevant stakeholders at all levels.
Develop UX/interface specifications such that your designs can be effectively communicated to both a local and future near-shore engineering and QA team.
Work to deeply understand the needs of our user base and how our product works for them, and how we can make it work better.
Occasional design of assets for Marketing purposes
Plan and provide time estimates and scope of UX deliverables as appropriate.


Desired Skills and Experience
2+ years of relevant experience in designing and documenting user experiences primarily for mobile platforms. Responsive web design experience also helpful.
Outstanding portfolio of prior work that demonstrates strong user-centred design process across a range of different mobile projects.
Advanced skills in appropriate design and prototyping tools, including Sketch and Marvel.


Understanding of information architecture, new concept development and interaction design.
Experience working in an agile environment, directly with developers and designers to build, refine and test your designs.
Experience in translating user research and usability test findings into iterative product solutions.


Visual and User Interface Design (experience with Sketch.app)
UX research
Storyboarding and wire-framing
Interaction and micro-interaction design (experience with Flinto, Origami Studio, Principle or similar)
Rapid prototyping and in-person user testing (experience with Marvel or similar)
Concept presentation/demonstration
Print/graphic design (experience designing outside billboards, flyers, etc is a plus)
Experience in producing video for social media
Bonus: Experience working in the mobility/transport space
Bonus: Familiarity with the challenges of designing an interface for in car use
