About the UX Product Design Intern on Design Systems at Headspace:

Headspace is looking for enthusiastic students with a drive to create a healthier and happier world. Our full-time paid internship program will give you a chance to gain in-depth knowledge of what it is like to be a part of our fast-paced and innovative company. Our summer internship program will be conducted fully remotely and will run for 10-weeks from June - August 2021. This internship goes beyond conventional design internships with a focus on Design Systems, a rapidly expanding area of design across the industry. You’ll gain experience in everything from high-level strategic product thinking to the execution of crucial details. 

As the Product Design Intern on Design Systems, you will be challenged to work and think at both strategic and executional levels. To begin, you will work to understand the Headspace product and design system. You will work to define and build reusable components, documentation, and tools that will help everyone at Headspace build and ship product features. Through this work, you will help us gain a better understanding of the overall structure, user experience, and flow of our product and gain an understanding of Headspace at a ‘ten thousand foot view. Being able to clearly see and understand product initiatives and overall company goals, you will then use that knowledge to dive into specific projects and work within project teams to rethink and improve the Headspace user experience.

The core competencies that you will develop:

    • Functional Visual Design Skills
    • Design Thinking Methodologies
    • Diagramming and Flow Charts
    • Reviewing User Research
    • Presentation of findings

What you’ve accomplished:

    • Students pursuing a degree or program in Design
    • Proficient knowledge of Figma, Adobe Creative Suite
    • Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, and presentational
    • Interest in mental health and well-being is a plus
    • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript is a plus
    • Prototyping skills/knowledge is a plus
