The Product team oversees all digital properties at Fortune: our content and conference websites, to the new Fortune Connect membership platform. Our goal is to launch new products to build on our core competencies of content, events and education, in order to diversify our revenue streams; and to improve the user experience and monetization of existing properties.
We are seeking a User Experience Designer to join the Product team. As the User Experience Designer, you will report to the VP of Product, and work with other product managers on the team. You will all UX assets and deliverables to ensure they are thorough, thought-through, intuitive, easy to use, timely, and visually successful. You will closely collaborate with stakeholders across Fortune. You will focus on leading the UX across the entire product team and supporting the ongoing product strategy with expert guidance around improving and optimizing the site via user experience improvements.
You should have experience in design thinking and user experience design methodologies and will serve as the conduit between multiple teams, and work with product and engineering leaders across the organization, as well as off-shore design resources with the goal of driving mechanisms to connect those teams’ work into a single, cohesive, end-to-end experience for our customers.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience as a UX Designer, ideally in some combination of journalism, education and media with a focus on digital design, UI/UX, user interface design or web design
- Experience owning the user experience components of major feature sets or products, from conception and ideation to post-launch optimization
- Experience leading design work in an agile and fast-moving environment
- Extensive experience leveraging research techniques and data for design decisions
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Diligence and attention to detail
- Ability to balance short-term fixes and long-term roadmap
- Familiarity with web technologies such as WordPress, HTML, as well as understanding of content management systems
- Deep understanding of experience design approaches and methodologies, including design thinking, usability, AB Testing and prototyping
- Collaborative, diplomatic and excellent communicator
- Preferred but not required, Bachelor’s Degree in areas of study such as graphic design, fine arts, human factors, design and visual communication
