Edelman Financial Engines

Description

At Edelman Financial Engines, we believe everyone deserves to move their financial life forward.

We know that assets have the power to fund goals. Those numbers represent individual lifetimes filled with hard work and dreams for our clients and generations to follow. Our clients trust us to guide them forward with empathy, integrity, and invention. We uphold that same standard of respect and dedication for clients and colleagues alike.

Founded on the idea that financial education is a fundamental right for everyone—not just the wealthy, Edelman Financial Engines continues to grow and challenge the status quo. We’re moving forward, together. If our purposeful commitment inspires you, we invite you to consider joining our team!

Our product and technology organization builds solutions that provide personalized financial planning and advice for over 1.3 million clients, accounting for over $290B in assets under management and is used daily by our team of 340+ planners. The Architecture team is a core part of our P&T organization and is responsible for the technical direction of our software and systems across all teams. Our UX architects set the technical vision for our front-end engineering teams and helping them to build the best possible solutions using modern tools and an agile process. A recent example saw us standing up a monorepo for our single page applications and front-end components using Nx. Our architects developed a strategy, built the frameworks and tools, and worked with application teams to ensure a successful rollout.

We are looking for a Senior UX Architect to join our Architecture team. This is a hands-on role for a front-end engineer and leader. Building things right, adhering to best practices, and setting high standards are integral qualities for successful engineers in this role.

You will be expected to own solutions from design through development and deployment. You will spend a lot of time writing code, but you’ll also work collaboratively with other architects, engineers, and leaders across multiple teams, so strong communication and collaborative skills are crucial. As a leader and role model, you will ensure that applications implement modern, inclusive, and future-forward solutions, accounting for the best front-end practices such as accessibility, web performance and optimizations, and good user experiences. The ideal candidate will have a passion for building scalable, maintainable, tested software in collaboration with a team that embraces a vision of engineering excellence!

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop shared components for our design system to be applied across other engineering teams
  • Solve the hardest front-end problems that impact our entire product and technology organization
  • Stay up-to-date with front-end technologies as they evolve and instill changes as needed
  • Work with our engineering leadership team to prioritize work quarterly
  • Actively collaborate with other architects to tackle problems together and establish shared patterns
  • Provide leadership to technology teams, consulting on modern front-end architecture, and design patterns
  • Partner with engineers through code reviews, pair programming, interactive design sessions and team retrospectives

Requirements:

  • 5+ years software development experience, including significant experience with modern single-page-application frameworks and libraries, Javascript, and HTML/CSS
  • Experience working with design systems and component libraries at a large scale
  • Experience crafting and developing complex React applications
  • Experience mentoring other engineers and helping their growth
  • Comfort working both independently and collaboratively with other team members
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
