UI/UX Designer



General Summary:

As a UI/UX Designer, you will facilitate the creation and design of user interfaces and experiences that ensure that Virbela systems are intuitive for clients and staff. You will review our existing systems to identify areas where they can be improved for usability and consistency and work with our product, art, and engineering teams on designs for new features. You will be able to conduct the research required to understand the efficacy of existing and new designs, and you will have the skills to develop prototypes for new and revised schemes. Working with our product teams, you will gain an understanding of technical feasibility for design implementations and devise strategies for making iterative progress towards long-term goals. Your work will reduce user confusion, reduce maintenance expense, and contribute to a positive experience for Virbela clients and staff.

Your focus will be:

  • Review all existing systems and recommend updates
  • Organize and lead usability studies
  • Create UI/UX standards for the organization
  • Lead UI/UX design for new projects
  • Create a consistent UX experience across desktop, mobile, and immersive VR

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Create low and high-fidelity designs for UI
  • Work with and guide product managers during the ideation phase, to ensure the interface is intuitive for the users
  • Maintain UI/UX standards for the organization
  • Test UI/UX designs to ensure that the users can interact with the proposed design as expected with the system
  • Work with software developers to ensure that the proposed design can be developed efficiently
  • Work with QA to ensure that the proposed design can be tested adequately 
  • Create UX process flows
  • Stay current with new UI/UX design ideas

Other Functions:
In this role, you may be required to support various functions of the business as new projects launch and the requirements of the business units change. This role will have wide-ranging interactions across our functional and business units.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:


Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in UI/UX Design

Skills and Experience:

  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience in UI/UX Design
  • Portfolio of design projects with examples that show development from early-stage to implementation
  • Experience running UI/UX design sessions with end-users
  • Ability to iterate on designs quickly
  • Competence with UI/UX design tools 
  • Ability to communicate design ideas through sketches, wireframing, and prototyping
  • Experience with web, mobile web, and native mobile designs
  • Experience communicating the benefits of design approaches
  • Understanding of agile development methodologies 
  • Strong interpersonal skills working with business and technical teams
  • Facilitation and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and process management skills
Ability to quickly come up to speed in dynamic, changing environments, including when you join a project midstream
