The role ?
We're looking for an experienced UX writer to work on the core FreeAgent application.
Day-to-day, here’s what you'll do:
- You’ll be in the driving seat, setting and guiding UX writing standards across the business.
- You'll be embedded in the product side of the business and work closely with Product Managers, Product Designers, and other disciplines to guide and craft microcopy for our products.
- You’ll regularly work with our content team, forming strong partnerships ensuring our brand and content are consistent across all touch points.
- You'll create, consistent, concise, accessible, and action-oriented copy for our web and mobile applications.
- You'll work with product teams to better understand product features, how our customers feel, and the intended user experience.
- You'll look at the bigger picture to ensure a consistent FreeAgent voice is established and maintained throughout our products.
- You'll ensure we use tone appropriately and let our brand personality shine through.
- You'll bring clarity to complexity helping customers achieve their outcomes quickly, accurately, and without fuss.
- You’ll demonstrate empathy for our users and empower them by making things simple.
- You'll work with our Design System team to establish microcopy patterns.
- You'll create, document, and maintain guidelines and frameworks ensuring we minimise mistakes, follow best practices and adhere to regulatory constraints.
You ?
This is a great role for you if:
- You have at least 5+ years of experience.
- You have a track record of writing and editing content for user interfaces, ideally in a product environment
- You have a portfolio of UX-focused writing examples.
- You understand the importance of seeing the bigger picture to create the best user experience possible.
- You are confident in communicating your work to all levels of the business and are able to clearly articulate your rationale.
- You are a strong influencer, you have a level of experience and emotional intelligence that enables you to build strong relationships and work toward the best outcome for the business and our users.
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a thorough knowledge of the English language, punctuation, grammar, and spelling.
- You are able to work with an existing style guide and develop app-specific guidelines.
- You love learning and immersing yourself in a new domain and you are able to adapt your style appropriately.
As a UX writer, you will form part of a wider design department, including Product Designers, Communications Designers, and User Researchers.

The starting salary for this role is £53,000 - £60,000 per annum depending on experience, with room to progress to £68,000 within the senior band.

This is a permanent, full-time role (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm). This role will be based in our Edinburgh office for 1 day per week with the rest working either in the office or at home. Working from home is second nature to us as we have been championing remote working for 14 years.
