Faculty is hiringProduct Designer
About Faculty
Faculty is one of Europe’s leading applied artificial intelligence companies. We build, deploy and operate AI solutions to increase our customers’ performance and help them realise their full potential.
We’re perhaps best known for our award winning COVID-19 Early Warning System, that helped the NHS to manage critical supply chains during the pandemic. But our work with over 300 customers to date has delivered impact for customers right across the economy.
Faculty is at an exciting moment in our development as a business. We are launching Frontier; a market leading decision intelligence product, to sit alongside our more established consulting work.
This is an equally important time for the adoption of AI in society. Conversational AI (like GPT3) and Creative AI (like DallE and Stable Diffusion) have given a glimpse into the transformative potential of the next wave of this technology.
It is our belief that Decision AI will have impacts on a similar scale, and fundamentally change the way operational decisions are made in organisations.
Our objective is that in five years time, Frontier will be the leading software in Decision AI category.
About the role
We are looking for a UX focused Product Designer, to help us build our new decision intelligence product for supply chain & operations teams – Frontier.
The product team at Faculty is responsible for helping customers make better decisions through features that help them unlock a deeper understanding of their business, rapidly convert analysis to action, and connect their organisation.
As a Product Designer, you’ll help us achieve that goal by designing delightful experiences that help our customers make better decisions.
What you'll be doing
Designing product features that tackle the most pressing problems in decision making, across a wide range of sectors, including manufacturing, healthcare, and retail. Solutions to these problems may include workflow tools, data visualisations, and brand new user journeys.
Leading the design process in collaboration with product squads of product managers, data scientists and engineers.
Conducting user research with customers to understand their workflows, goals, and pain points; synthesising findings and communicating insights to the product squad in order to inform and refine the roadmap.
Communicating your design thinking through user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs (with varying levels of design fidelity), presenting alternatives and justifying design decisions where necessary, both to customers and to product squads.
Creating high quality visuals and interactions, based on a strong understanding of good design principles as well as the Faculty brand.
Being a team player within the team and design guild, actively participating in our activities and design critiques as well as contributing to scaling the design and product capability across the company. You will be expected to contribute to the design vision for Faculty; encourage and ensure world-class design execution by helping set standards and best practices.
Contributing to and helping grow our design system.
What we are looking for
Experience working with data or on business intelligence/B2B/AI-based applications.
Experience in carrying out the end-to-end design process independently, with examples of activities that span across user research, UX, and UI.
A portfolio showcasing a range of projects, with examples of your design process and artefacts you produced along the way.
Examples of work where you have done discovery and research to understand a complex problem and then synthesised your findings to come up with design solutions.
Knowledge of prototyping and design tools. We use Miro and Figma, but are quick to adopt better tools and processes, so you’ll be more than welcome to contribute all the good practices you’ve used before.
Excellent verbal, written, and visual/presentation communication skills.
Interest in working on an early-stage product.
Interest in a quantitative discipline, like mathematics or computer science would be nice but not essential.
Demonstrable interest in working on data science/AI applications.
