What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for a bright, talented UX Researcher who is passionate about customer experience and world-class research that delivers impactful insights.

You’ll be joining a new and growing Research team who operate in a partially embedded model; sitting alongside product areas but still prioritising the most impactful discovery projects across the business. 

Your focus will be to own end-to-end UX research projects at Tide, delivering high-quality studies that help grow the business by assuring the quality of our user experience.  Our cross-functional ways of working mean you’ll be collaborating across the whole company, interacting with product designers, other researchers, product managers, data scientists, and others to shape the way our members interact with their finances on a daily basis.

As a User Researcher you’ll be:

  • Planning and running research activities as a hands-on practitioner
  • Working with business stakeholders to scope and prioritise research requests in line with company planning 
  • Consulting on a variety of user research methods across the business and within your product area
  • Conducting moderated studies to get a detailed understanding of customer needs 
  • Applying both qualitative and quantitative methods as appropriate as well as advising others on when to use each
  • Analysing data from fieldwork and making recommendations
  • Managing external agencies for participant recruitment purposes
  • Working with teams to help identify user driven innovations and improvements
  • Adhering to and advocating for top quality standards and best practices in user research
  • Collaborating with a variety of stakeholders to synthesize business insights
  • Supporting design leads and product teams as a trusted advisor on all aspects of research
  • Democratising research practices and self-service approaches to empower Tideans  to conduct their own research
  • Keeping abreast of research trends and developments
  • Presenting project findings to the wider business

What makes you a great fit:

  • Practical experience in a range of human-centred design research methods and in-depth knowledge of user research, ideally in a product environment
    • Open to those with strong market research experience provided the environments/methods are directly transferable 
  • Deep understanding of behavioural analysis, and are experienced in mindset research. You might have a Sociology/Psychology/Anthropology/HCI degree or background but it is not necessary. 
  • Strong experimental, study and research question design skills
  • Creative approach to shaping studies methodologies and innovating new ones
  • You are hands-on with moderation, data collection and fieldwork competencies in a variety of contexts
  • Expertise in facilitating collaboration and input with non-expert stakeholders
  • Aptitude for crafting presentations and reports with high quality of writing and data visualisation
  • You are competent in producing effective research plans from non-expert’s briefs
  • Highly collaborative approach to working with internal and external teams
  • Thirst for self-improvement
  • Experience working with fast-paced digital product teams, preferably in a start-up or scale-up, and comfortable in a fairly unstructured environment
  • Effective project planning and resource management, including the ability to balance conflicting priorities and meaningfully align to company objectives
  • Experience working on a consumer-facing applications
  • Even better if:
    • Experience in retail banking or other retail financial services
    • Confident running Jobs-To-Be-Done research and guiding others in product with this approach to product innovation
