Product Designer

Pixie

Description

Pixie’s growing product team is looking for a skilled product designer to join our Lisbon-based team. Applications for this role are open until 16 June.

Our new platform that just launched, the product backlog brimming with bright ideas, and fast growth make this an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to make their mark.

About the role

This is the perfect role for a design generalist who wants to do more than just UI and UX. You’ll be paired with a full-stack engineer to work on features in 6-week cycles (we’re adopting the Shape Up process more formally) and contribute with ideas, visual designs, and your own HTML and CSS (we use Tailwind).

You’ll be able to work on all aspects of the product and will not be boxed into working on optimising just a single feature.

You’ll be able to make decisions, talk with customers to clarify requirements and try out your ideas, and have a real influence on our growing team as we become more design-led.

About Pixie

We are on a 10-year journey to bring joy to 100,000 small accounting firms around the world with simple software, a great user experience, excellent customer service, and fair pricing.

Our platform streamlines and automates their workflows, ensuring they keep delighting their clients. We’re off to a great start with 3,500+ accountants and bookkeepers already loving our platform and relying on it daily to get work done.

As we continue to grow and make a positive impact, we’re seeking talented individuals who are passionate about their craft to help us build a team with an exceptional customer focus.

Requirements

These traits will make you a great fit for the role:

  • 4+ years of experience in designing the UI and UX for B2B software products that target small businesses
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Above average fluency in HTML and CSS, either learnt from experience or through a coding Bootcamp
  • Ability to write clear and grammatically correct product micro-copy in English
  • Willingness to engage with customers, learn about their jobs to be done and incorporate those learnings into Pixie’s UX
  • Ability to execute projects autonomously and in close collaboration with customers and teammates
  • Bachelor/Master’s degree in a design-related discipline

Benefits

  • Base salary of €38k-€45k plus equity
  • Company budget for Apple laptop and accessories
  • A collaborative environment where you’ll learn about and influence every aspect of the business
  • Private health insurance and meal allowance
  • 30 days of holidays, plus national holidays and birthdays off
  • Discretionary growth budget for learning (eg. books, courses), gym, etc.
  • Plenty of room and support to continue growing professionally
  • Access to industry thought-leaders via our investors' platforms and networks

Applying for this role and our process

Please submit your application that includes a great written statement in English about why you love product design (we’ll use ChatGPT detection to disqualify applications). Applications will be open until 16 June, feel free to take your time and make a great impression!

We'd love you to submit a 4-5 minute Loom video walkthrough of a user journey in a live product that you designed, and learn what your thought process was, etc. If that isn't possible, send us a link to that product so that we can sign up.

As a last resort, you can submit a static portfolio, but we'll prioritise candidates that share a real product with us.

As mentioned above, we’re accepting applications until 16 June 2023. In the week following, we’ll review applications and invite candidates in for an interview. You’ll hear from us no later than 23 June.

Our interview schedule can take up to 2 hours: you’ll have the chance to meet your future teammates across multiple teams in the company, and dive into your experience, how you think about design and answer any questions you have for us.

We may ask the final candidates to do a paid take-home design challenge that reflects a typical scenario and lets us understand how you approach problems.

We’re aiming to make an offer by the beginning of July and hopefully welcome you to the team within a few weeks.
