About our role:
Our team is responsible for the UI/UX content of the Siemens-Mendix Design System. This means we develop UI resources, align them with the Siemens and test them to ensure the user has the best possible user experience. We are part of the larger Mendix design community that is distributed across several units in Rotterdam, Boston, Pune, and Shanghai, with many fields. From user experience research and service design to brand and product design, the Mendix design community is filled with creatives focused on elevating the user experience across our products. We are proud to be a diverse function, and we believe that cross-disciplinary co-creation is the key to our success. We love exploring new ways to create and tinkering with new technologies or techniques. Our toolset includes Miro, Figjam, Figma, Jira, Confluence and Dropbox Paper when planning and conducting our work.
About the position:
Are you a UX engineer with a consistent record of systemizing frontend and shipping design systems/UI frameworks? Do you have a passion for design, skilled at crafting interfaces, and capable of shaping projects from start to finish? We have a great opportunity for a high-reaching and creative frontend engineer to join our team!
In this role, you'll grow with building outstanding reusable UI/UX experiences, writing high-performance, maintainable, and testable code. Collaboration is key, and you'll feel comfortable working as part of a design team while taking ownership and valuing your ideas. You'll be responsible for crafting and maintaining the components, patterns, interactions, and behaviors that define our design system, ensuring a seamless user experience for Siemens products. You'll work closely with design team members, product designers, UX researchers, and Mendix developers to implement your work flawlessly and align with the organization's objectives. Your ability to think beyond individual widgets and envision the larger design system will be crucial in anticipating trends, analyzing use cases, and driving system evolutions.

- Developing and improving the Siemens Design System, we’re in it for the long haul. Thousands of developers and end users across the globe rely on your work and what you do can make a lot of impact.
- Design and evolve a framework which empowers our users to make great apps, while keeping multiple projects on track.
- Developing and testing widgets (components) for web and native mobile.
- Being thorough, we like to get to the bottom of things; clear answers are more important than deadlines.
You're the innovator we need if:
- You have Mendix modelling skills (advanced developer) and are eager to develop creating custom Mendix UI resource packages
- You have first experiences with SCSS/HTML
- You like to create and manage build tools, work with APIs (node / npm)
- You have intermediate React skills, and have interest in- or beginner in React Native.
