About the opportunity
We are currently looking for a talented visual designer to help lead a newly developing creative team at Contentful. The ideal candidate will have both agency and in-house experience, building out corporate branding work for technology companies.
What to expect?
- Focus on research, and UX strategy for Contentful.com and our web properties
- Work closely with the Senior Art Director and Creative Director to deliver high-quality, results driven experiences across Contentful.com
- Work directly with web product manager and UI designer to articulate experiences from strategic UX direction into implementation with developers and art director
- Contribute to UX strategy to up-level how we communicate our value and mission to our customers & prospects
- Collaborate with product marketing managers, web leaders, and engineers to craft and ship useful, delightful experiences based on business objectives and user needs & insights
- Experiment and innovate on what we deliver in terms of user experiences and design quality
- Help us scale our web design system by contributing to components, UX patterns, and documentation from a UX perspective
- Participate in design reviews and present on what you have learned to other design and cross-disciplinary partners
- Contribute to process and documentation that helps the design team grow our skills and scale our practice
- Take point on creating design patterns systems across Contentful’s various web experiences
- Partner with content teams, brand experience, and developers to deliver best in class content experiences across Contentful.com
- Attend strategic and tactical meetings to develop design strategies with clarity
- Research and uncover new ways to incorporate emerging and new media formats into client work and campaigns with trends, technologies, and best practices
- Execute and communicate design work daily through Slack, email, and JIRA
- Communicate and work cross-functionally with the Content team, campaign leaders, Events managers, and other stakeholders throughout the company
- Partner with third-party design agencies to consult on integrating work within our design system and web experience
- Occasional travel to Contenful’s hub in Denver may be required
What you need to be successful?
- 6+ years in similar UX design role for marketing or experience driven websites
- 8+ years professional UX design experience
- A portfolio of well executed, impactful UX projects that you have worked on from start to finish
- A deep understanding of how UX is applied to marketing and brand experiences (not product)
- Hands-on working design skills in addition to experience directing larger multidisciplinary design teams
- A strong background in research, discovery, collaboration, and UX theory
- Experience managing multiple projects and priorities alongside team members to hit competing deadlines
- A proven toolbag of UX activities (cardsorting, journey mapping, persona driving, user-testing, ethnographic interviewing, etc.)
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback to move the team and their work forward
- Have a working knowledge of latest web practices and technologies, experience of designing for conversion, and working through technical validation of creative concepts/design
- Comprehensive working knowledge of Figma
- JIRA experience is a plus

- Naturally curious about problems and enjoy implementing innovative and creative ways to solve them
- Motivated to create new ideas and concepts from provided team strategies
- A stellar communicator and presenter, always focused on keeping collaboration positive and productive
- Working knowledge of latest web practices and technologies
- Familiarity with JIRA is a plus
This is a contract position. We are seeking a term of a minimum of 90 days with a potential for extending if agreed and needed by the business.
Colorado Salary Statement: The salary range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in the state of Colorado if selected for the role. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data/ranges, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications (e.g. JD/technology), for example.
Colorado Salary Range: $75/hour
