Purpose:
The UX Design Engineer is responsible for providing consultation on all customer-facing applications based on user research and feedback. The UX Designer plays a crucial role in interpreting business requirements & customer needs in order to portray the best possible customer experience to our end users. The UX Designer acts as a mediator between various teams and is the voice of the end user.
Essential Functions:
- Work with the development team to implement usable and accessible user interface applications
- Assist business stakeholders in developing requirements based on UX approach
- Interact with the business/product and development teams on a daily basis, in a fast paced agile environment
- Wireframing, mocking, prototyping UI designs and UX approaches
- Lead user research sessions & design critiques
- Independently develop design ideas for presentation to internal stakeholders
- Work with all teams to understand the facets of our business and the application of our products
- Deliver proposals to stakeholders to improve previously established designs
- Effectively challenge convention when necessary to achieve optimal user experiences
- Follow through on recommendations by providing design artifacts and articulating approach to implementation team
- Act as a delegate for the organization
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist with implementation of UX strategies in requirements gathering phase
- Interface between client management, product, and development teams
- Augment business requirements based on proven research and UX practices

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Required
- Bachelor’s from an accredited college or university in relevant field
- In lieu of a degree, a high school diploma/equivalent with five or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
- 3+ years of experience in a UI/UX related role
- Thorough understanding of design principles, patterns, and best practices
- Ability to lead design sessions, critiques, and requirements review meetings
- Experience conducting user research sessions and articulating feedback to business stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to produce wireframes and/or mock-ups at various levels of fidelity
- Applied knowledge and strong familiarity with Adobe tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc)
- Proven skills developing wireframes through use of industry tools (Sketch, Adobe XD, Balsamiq, Invision, etc)
- Experience evolving designs from visual aids into working prototypes
- Professional experience writing user scripts and conducting user group sessions
- Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, JS, and front-end development frameworks
Preferred
- Experience in the financial industry; e-commerce, banking, financial institution
- Ability to aide in the development of a common design language based on company branding
- Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment; interacting with Product Owners and Business Analysts
- Portfolio demonstrating applied practice of modern user experience patterns
- Strong knowledge of technology usage trends & applied knowledge of designing for mobile experiences
- Experience managing media files within a source control system
