User Experience Researcher will support multi-disciplinary teams focused on translating human needs into viable product concepts using iterative, human-centered design. Research work will impact the development of our Design System and cohesive cross-channel experiences for Cockpit Driving Experiences such as Vehicle Information, Comfort, Safety, Ownership, Entertainment, Connectivity and Navigation.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with design partners to plan and facilitate user research that will guide the design of world-class user experiences across all products and platforms for in-vehicle features
- Develop the research test plan that best addresses the scope and conduct the research demonstrating ability to appropriately use both quantitative and qualitative data
- Analyze research findings to inform problem statements, guide design strategy, and define requirements; apply statistical skills for analyzing the data from quantitative studies;
- Provide tactical and targeted design recommendations and next steps based on data through inspiring written reports and verbal presentations
- Advocate for accessibility in our designs where appropriate and/or required
- Contribute to the continued evolution of the team’s workflows and processes to further improve research quality and performance
Required Qualifications
- Proficient in multiple user research methodologies both formative and generative (heuristic evaluation and expert reviews; usability 1:1 testing; contextual inquiry; surveys; card sorting and information architecture; focus groups; competitive evaluation)
- Proficient in all aspects of user research testing (i.e., recruiting, methodology and metrics development, analysis, reporting results)
- Keen ability to identify issues and problems, generate solutions and choose appropriate alternatives through use of user research methods
- Familiarity with basic visual and interactive design principles and practices
- Portfolio with work samples showcasing expertise in user research
- Strong written, visual, and verbal communication skills
- Excellent collaboration and facilitation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of automotive technology and the product development lifecycle
- Knowledge of design thinking methods
- Familiarity with common design tools like Axure and Sketch
- Prototyping experience (software and/or hardware development experience a plus)
- Experience conducting user research in SAFe / Agile software development environment
- Knowledge of user research tools such as Usertesting.com and Qualtrics
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in HCI, Human Factors, Product Design, Psychology or related. Master’s Degree preferred.
- At least three years executing user research to inform interactive product design
