SUMMARY

We’re looking for a product designer to help us research, design, and deliver best-in-class products which provide high value to our customers and delight our end-users while aligning with our business objectives. As a Product Designer at StraighterLine, you’ll be responsible for researching, validating, designing (UX IA through to final design), and testing solutions, as well as supporting others in the technology group with foundational product activities. You will work closely with product managers, the software development team, and other teams with high user interaction to drive good solutions with data and design.

Ideal candidate will live within 90 minutes of Arlington, VA in one of the following states (VA, MD, PA, DC).

RESPONSIBILITIES

User Research and Analysis

    • Conduct user research to understand the needs, behaviors, and motivations of our target audience.
    • Analyze user feedback and usage data to identify opportunities for improvement in the user experience.

Design and Prototyping

    • Create user-centered designs by considering market analysis, customer feedback, and usability findings.
    • Design wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups to illustrate user interface concepts.

Collaboration and Communication

    • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure a cohesive and effective product development process.
    • Communicate design ideas and prototypes to developers and stakeholders.

Testing and Iteration

    • Conduct usability tests to gather feedback on design prototypes.
    • Iterate on designs based on user feedback and test results to ensure the final product meets user needs and company goals.

Design System Management

    • Develop and maintain a design system to ensure consistency across all our digital products.
    • Document design guidelines and best practices for use by the product team.

Innovation and Continuous Learning

    • Stay informed about the latest trends in UX design and education technology.Propose innovative solutions that push the boundaries of traditional education technology design.

Accessibility and Inclusivity

    • Ensure that all designs meet accessibility standards and cater to a diverse user base.
    • Advocate for inclusive design practices within the team.

QUALIFICATIONS

    • Proven experience as a UX Designer, UI Designer, or similar role.
    • Strong portfolio of design projects showcasing UX expertise.
    • Proficiency in design software (e.g., Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, InVision).
    • Knowledge of HTML/CSS; JavaScript is a plus.
    • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
    • Experience in the education sector is a plus.
