Intermediate UX Designer

MOZ Group

Description

Description

Moz’s UX team is seeking an Intermediate UX Designer to join our team. As the ideal candidate, you will be responsible for helping the UX team with their larger projects, and owning the smaller-scoped UX requests from different departments within the company.  You will help maintain our pattern library, and will also work on various user research tasks, including feedback analysis and reporting, to help guide product decisions. When you are in between tasks, you will be working to gain a deeper understanding of our tools and the SEO industry, which will help fuel your future decisions.

We’re hoping you’re detail-oriented, meticulous in your work, and always wanting to learn. We’re hoping you get fired up about resolving user pain points through well-justified design decisions, and are excited to include user feedback as your main source of inspiration.

Unlike a Product Designer role, this role does not require you to have exceptional design skills (though that would definitely be a big plus). Instead, this role requires a strong design process and problem solving skills. This person should get excited at all kinds of feedback and research, know how to use those findings in their concepts, be able to test their concepts, and communicate their justified ideas. They should be able to use a pattern library for the majority of their final designs, and have enough skill to fill in the gaps.

Responsibilities

We’re looking for an Intermediate UX Designer that will

  • Assist the UX team with larger projects, working to understand, vet, and improve user problems and solutions, as well as process problems and solutions
  • Own the entire process, start to finish, for the smaller-scoped UX request
  • Repair, maintain, and upgrade our pattern library where necessary, to help scale our designs and process
  • Analyze, catalog, and report on qualitative user feedback from multiple sources
  • Analyze quantitative behavioral data using tools like Pendo and Fullstory
  • Work with other UX Designers to own the entire design process from start to finish, including locking down requirements with stakeholders, wireframes, prototypes, and mockups, all the way to the final hand-off to developers, and to owning and measuring the success of the work
  • Plan and conduct various forms of user research, depending on the needs of the project
  • Work with the dev team to ensure designs are implemented accurately and provide quality assurance on their designs, once implemented
  • Communicate and meticulously document your designs, plans, and outcomes
  • You will also work closely with product managers, other UX designers, developers, and other stakeholders as you go through the entire UX process.
  • Understand and embrace our core values: Transparent, Accountable, Generous, Fun, Empathetic, and Exceptional.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in UX design or related fields
  • An intermediate-level understanding of SEO, with demonstrated experience using SEO tools, such as Moz Pro, AHREFs, SEMrush, Raven Tools, or Screaming Frog
  • A strong portfolio that demonstrates your design process, including a range of research methods and outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience working within, and contributing to, a pattern library
  • Demonstrated proficiency in design and prototyping tools (we work in Figma)
  • Proficient with standard research methods like usability testing, interviews, and data analysis, and knows when their work may benefit from these research methods
  • A willingness and eagerness to learn
  • Meticulous attention to detail

Nice to have
  • A bachelor's degree in interaction design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or related UX degree
  • Experience designing for large sets of displayed data, including data visualizations
  • Strong knowledge of UI design principles and techniques, and are up-to-date with the latest UI trends and technologies.
  • Knowledge of AA and AAA accessibility standards
Target Salary (12 months) $85-$90K
