Reporting to the Lead of Product Design, you’ll work with experts in product, engineering, community, and operations. At Catalyst, you’ll design cross-platform applications to bring decentralized solutions globally, supporting Cardano’s mission for a secure, transparent, and fair world.

Duties
- Facilitate and structure the problem discovery and solution definition for your assigned product area leveraging the expertise in your cross-functional team
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure the visions and concepts are aligned with broader business goals, and are set to deliver strategic value, and contribute to the business case development
- Facilitate cross-discipline sessions as part of early product definition - likely pulling from a tool box of lean UX approaches, design sprint and prototyping methods
- Gather and evaluate user and business needs, in collaboration with product managers and engineers
- Lead discovery initiatives to identify insights about user behaviors, pain points and needs. Share effectively those insights inside and outside the team so that they can inform decisions
- Develop wireframes and prototypes that clearly illustrate how defined solutions function
- Identify and analyze problems related to the overall experience and structure of the assigned product area to understand their impact and plan improvements accordingly
- Lead design of a product area; connecting that to a broader product vision (e.g, purchase experience)
- Design product solutions which are data informed (quant & qual) using a variety of design techniques and artifacts of varying fidelities
- Ensure our products follow accessibility standards and create a standard by contributing to our design system guidelines
Requirements

- Awareness of, and ability to implement, clear and structured communications methods, for example, implementing optimal communication methods
- Ability to understand, use, and manage your own emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathize with others, overcome challenges and defuse conflict
- Visionary and pragmatic mindset (someone that can see and understand the longer term but act with pragmatism in the present)
- Knowledge to create usable digital products; awareness of frameworks and techniques that provide usable products and the common patterns of behaviors that if applied to the product structure and interfaces will usually deliver simple usable experiences
- Knowledge in collecting and understanding both quantitative and qualitative data
- Expertise and understanding of each high level step of the Product Design process throughout the whole product development lifecycle (from discovery to delivery)
- A good understanding of key accessibility and usability frameworks and guidelines
- Ability to communicate design effectively, and adapt communication to suit the audience
- Ability to receive and act upon feedback as well as effectively give constructive feedback to others
- Highly organized, with strong time management skills. Proven ability to prioritize tasks, anticipate incoming requests
- Ability to clarify success metrics and tie efforts toward delivering business value
- Some experience running user testing sessions
- Excellent stakeholder management and managing expectations in a fast-paced environment
- Curiosity and passion for understanding users’ needs
- Knowledge of UI kit development and smooth handoff to dev team
- Ability to create visually stunning custom design assets
Education / Experience / Interests
- Proven work experience as a Product designer or similar role with complex products
- Experience in web3 products and technology
- Experience engaging with web3 and other online communities
- Excellent Figma skills and understanding design systems / ui kits is a must.
- Expertise in an agile environment.
- Proven ability to collaborate successfully with cross-functional peers and teams to develop concepts and products
- Extensive experience in using UX design best practices to design solutions, and a deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive design
- Experience with varied design and research processes and frameworks
- Experience of influencing and advocating for the user/customer to non-design audiences
- Experience in planning and running user interviews and testing sessions
- Experience facilitating workshops in Miro and leading meetings
- HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills are a plus
