Job Description
About the role:
The digital team create and deliver the digital experience of Ampol Group's brands to power better journeys for our customers. We unify customer experience across physical and digital channels, build and deliver products where technology meets our customers across web, app (including native), and retail.
The Experience Designer role champions the voice of the customer internally, with a focus on user research and contributing insights to drive the strategic direction of the Ampol groups digital assets. A balance between UX Design and backend performance delivery is essential. You’ll be embedded in a digital team, collaborating closely with web developers, product managers, business analysts, and content designers to craft seamless, user-focused experiences. You’ll champion data-led design across the product lifecycle, bridging the gap between business goals and user needs.
This role is a 12 Month Max Term Contract
You’ll take us further by:
- Working closely with internal system users and other creatives to bring ideas to life through facilitated workshops, ideation sessions, and co-design activities.
- Creating customer journey maps and service blueprints to ensure all design efforts are grounded in customer insight and business strategy.
- Operating at the intersection of aesthetic excellence and strategic thinking, crafting high-fidelity interfaces that are rooted in UX data and balance brand integrity with measurable user performance.
- Applying design thinking and data-led methodologies and leading user research initiatives to identify customer pain points, needs, and opportunities across digital touchpoints.
- Advocating for customer empathy at every stage of the design process, using qualitative and quantitative research to guide design decisions and improve usability.
- Collaborating with Native, Web and Product teams to align user experience with product goals, ensuring that solutions are not only desirable but also feasible and viable.
- Iterating on design solutions based on user testing, stakeholder feedback, and data analytics to deliver accessible, inclusive, and high-performing digital experiences.
- Bringing a strategic lens to every pixel, ensuring our visual language balances brand integrity with measurable user performance.
Qualifications
We’d love it if you have:
- Demonstrated experience in a senior UX designer position, ideally within a cross-functional digital team environment.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating human-centred design across complex digital products or services.
- Experience mentoring, growing team members, and leading from the front as a subject matter expert
- Proven experience in planning and conducting user research, usability testing, and translating insights into actionable design improvements.
- Strong communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders.
- A deep understanding of customer empathy and the role it plays in creating meaningful, accessible user experiences.
- Experience working collaboratively with Native App, Web and Product teams in Agile environments, contributing to sprint planning, reviews, and backlog refinement.
