The Opportunity

Lucid seeks an experienced, SaaS product-savvy Senior UX Designer to join our Product Design team. We seek a strong cross-funtional candidate with ideas and strategic vision to help shape the functionality, flow, and experiences of our suite of products. This person will be an advocate for usability and interface design, and will be responsible for the delivery and output of quality and timely design deliverables - including wireframes, prototypes, presentations, research, and other UX-centric work. This person will mentor and collaborate with the junior members of the design team.

As part of the Product team, the Senior UXD will partner with product management, UI design, UX Research, and UI developers to produce high value additions and changes to our customer experience. In addition, they will own the “discovery” portion of the product design process and work to create both low and hi-fi prototypes and collaborate on technically complex concepts and projects. They will own the user experience of an entire product line, and should have previous work experience delving deep into building complex SaaS products. The Senior UXD will also collaborate on gathering, synthesizing and interpreting UX research into actionable product updates.

The Senior UXD will help define the functional and experiential implementations of current and future Lucid products and will have relevant experience participating in the design, implementation, and user research processes as a part of the UX team. Most importantly, this person will be a true user advocate, who seeks to learn our products from the inside-out, and build solutions that will improve the experience of users on all of our products.

Responsibilities

    • Delving into the technical complexity of our suite of products and becoming an expert on the features, flow, and functionality of those products.
    • Working with the existing members of the design team to identify gaps in the process, and embed yourself within the team’s workflow to make the most impact.
    • Developing sketches, illustrations, mock-ups, prototypes and visual interfaces that we will use to improve our suite of products at Lucid.
    • Participating in and leading visioning and conceptual exercises; doing work to establish user voice and needs with both internal and external stakeholders.
    • Translating complex systems into tangible, simple, UI concepts. Demonstrating these concepts through strong storytelling and rapid prototyping.
    • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to define user goals and requirements; managing relationships with key stakeholders throughout project work.
    • Contributing, via UX deliverable, to the overall product experience, strategy, and long term vision. Eventually: leading that UX vision.
    • Delivering high-quality designs that showcase UX improvements from concept to final prototype.
    • Participating in and leading client-facing feedback sessions and testing visual implementations in the Lucid products.
    • Working with the UX Design Manager to vision out the future of the experience of our products. Prototyping interactions for new features and refining the visual experience of existing features as daily aspects of that job.
    • Showcasing an expert-level understanding of various UX and collaborative tools, including Sketch, Invision, Figma, Trello, Jira, and others.
    • Contributing to the team discussions around building and evolving tools, processes, best practices and templates / frameworks to continuously improve the human centered design methods and approaches at Lucid.
    • Sharing trends, strategic perspectives, concepts with the UX and Design team and key work partners to further develop consumer-centered strategies that align with Lucid’s vision, goals, vehicles, services and markets.

Requirements

    • At least 3-5 years of experience in a UX design role, preferably on a product team working on technical SaaS products.
    • Excellent visual communication skills, including UX design deliverables, presentations, storyboards, whiteboard, and conceptual diagramming and sketching.
    • Excellent oral communication skills: the ability to “sell” your work and align stakeholders to an experiential vision.
    • Expertise in design methods, processes, tools, and best practices.
    • Excellent problem solving skills.
    • Considerable knowledge and expertise of either the Adobe Suite, Sketch, Figma, or some kind of multi-purpose design application.
    • A technical understanding of frontend development, implementation, and best practices.
    • Strong collaboration skills and previous evidence of working with developers, product managers, and designers.
    • Relevant experience developing complex, business facing web and/or mobile applications.
    • Experience participating in user research and data-driven decision making, and interest in bringing visual solutions for UX problems to the forefront for prioritization.
    • Strong self-direction and sense of responsibility; exhibiting a high-level of professionalism and attention to detail.
    • An intrinsic desire to advocate for the users of complex platforms and products. Questions like “Who does this benefit?” or “How can we improve the product to help the most people?” or “Is this a one-off feature?” should always be at the tip of this person’s tongue.
