The Department of Art invites applications for a full-time Lecturer of UX Design. Candidates should be prepared to teach undergraduate courses in UX Design in an urban, multi-cultural environment. As the only full-time UX Design faculty member within the Graphic Design and Illustration major, the candidate will be responsible for the assessment of existing and development of new curriculum. Additional responsiblitities include departmental and college service, committee work, student advisement, administrative, supervisory, and other functions. This appointment shall be effective in the 2022-2023 academic year.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.

Master's degree preferred

Minimum of two years teaching experience

Minimum five years of professional experience, with active engagement in the field of UX Design.

Knowledgeable in all aspects of digital interaction design from conceptualizing through visual design, prototyping, testing and front-end development.

Three classes form the UX Design concentration within the Graphic Design and Illustration Program. Classes to be taught: Human Centered Design, Visual Design and Coding for Designers. Candidates should have experience and must be able to instruct in the following UX areas:

  • Foundations of UX

  • Usability Testing, prototyping in different fidelities

  • Explore the design process for an interactive project from initial concept to completion

  • Develop studio skills (sketching, wire framing, mockups/comps) that include the preliminary design process

  • Design and develop responsive layouts for multi-device, and multi-channel applications

  • Ultilizing and teaching the Design Spring methodology or other methodologies

  • Collaboration/working in teams

  • Presentation skills

  • Visual Design Principles

  • HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/Query

  • Basic interface interactions (via Query) such as click events

  • Front and Back End terminology

  • WordPress

  • Developing semantic, accessible and responsive layouts for multi-device

  • Responsive typographic grids

Ability to cooperate and collaborate with others for the good of the institution.

COMPENSATION

$49,521 - $89,527. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
