The Head of UX leads the Product Design Chapter reporting to our VP of Product. You’ll drive the vision for a world-class seamless customer experience across all features in the App. You’ll collaborate with the product and mobile engineering teams along with the wider business in order to deliver new feature designs that balance a clear and intuitive user experience for customers, with simplicity and speed of engineering delivery.

The Head of UX has a strong vision for the Product Design Chapter, promoting the best organisational patterns and practices. You will provide clear leadership, inspire and motivate staff to achieve excellence and mentor them as they develop new skills.

What you can expect to be doing:

  • Ownership of the customer experience to move customers from start to finish in all product and feature interactions.
  • Managerial responsibility of the product design team.
  • Full ownership of prod design ways of working, Jira, sprint maintenance etc.
  • Owning responsibility for the prod design function hitting sprint objectives.
  • Owning responsibility for communication between the product designers, product managers and mobile engineers.
  • Own the strategy and direction of our overarching UX and CX, not just in the features being delivered today, but for the years to come too.
  • Working closely with the Brand Design Lead to manage Chip’s design team and design direction.
  • Building a culture that combines delivery with amazing creativity.
  • Own the testing of our designs and make sure the team are operating within a good testing framework
  • Collaboration with Product on user research and discovery of new features.
  • Balancing easy and slick UX with user delights that make Chip an amazing product to use
  • Balancing functionality with psychological levers. How can we understand what gets users hooked on Chip and makes the experience fun to use

What we’re really looking for:

  • Experience in mobile customer experience design and service design (preferably in B2C, consumer apps)
  • Experience in leading and line managing a team of Product Designers.
  • Experience in working cross-functionally with product and engineering.
  • Excellent track record of successfully delivering designs for both iOS and Android applications.
  • A track record of attracting, hiring, developing and retaining top design talent. You are somebody that people want to work for and with.
  • Ability to lead design discussions and guide the team to arrive at the most optimal solution.
  • High level of personal maturity, pragmatism, flexibility, and resilience.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to establish and maintain good relationships with people.
  • Commercially minded.
  • Strong verbal and visual presentation skills.
  • You love speaking to users to understand user needs in order to solve problems as effectively as possible.
  • Obsess over small details that take designs to the next level.
  • Fintech/Financial Services experience (Not essential)
  • Up-to-date knowledge of design software like Figma, After Effects and Photoshop
  • Team spirit; strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders
  • Someone who has a passion for and loves building apps that disrupt industries.
