Do you want to make your stamp in the mobile gaming industry by creating appealing user experiences for our top grossing mobile titles?

Our team at PlayQ is looking for a talented UI/UX Designer to join us as we continue to expand our portfolio. As a UI/UX Designer, you’ll be responsible for working directly with the product, design, and art teams to craft delightfully intuitive user experiences and interfaces. Responsibilities in this role will span the entire development lifecycle, from wireframe and concept creation to final asset production and implementation in Unity. This position offers an exciting opportunity to design and deliver flawless user experiences to millions of daily players around the globe.

What you'll get to create:

  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and Art teams to design appealing, user-friendly and crisp 2D UI assets and implement intuitive user experiences for casual mobile games
  • Designing from concept to completion all facets of the User Interface including: mockups, wireframes, flow charts, icons, and animation mockups
  • Collaborate with Senior and Lead UI/UX Designers to draft and maintain UI style guides to ensure product consistency
  • Create top-of-market production UI design assets, including UI animations and visual effects
  • Integrate UI into Unity, working with engineering to ensure artwork is accurately and consistently represented in the game
  • Optimize UI for best performance and optimal footprint on mobile devices
  • Work with Production to estimate and track UI/UX tasks
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in game UI/UX design
  • Active participant in design team meetings, sprint planning and cross functional team meetings

What you'll bring to the team:

  • 3+ years of UI/UX experience
  • At least 1 shipped mobile title as UI/UX artist
  • Expert with Adobe Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, & After Effects
  • Experience with Unity and various UI implementation methods within Unity
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Design, Art and Engineering teams to define and prototype the best user experiences
  • Ability to translate flowcharts and wireframes into fun, usable, visually polished UI systems
  • A strong understanding of UI conventions and challenges for mobile and other emerging platforms, including UI optimization for best performance and optimal footprint on mobile devices
  • Desire and ability to take feedback (from players, user research, and leads) and translate it to actionable solutions
  • Ability to produce high quality work quickly, iterating toward the best solutions
  • Experience with UI/UX task breakdowns, estimates and sprint planning
  • Self-sufficient and self-motivated; able to manage workload and meet project deadlines
  • Excellent organization and efficient time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with Flash
  • Experience creating UI animations and transitions
  • Technical art background/skills

At PlayQ, we leverage competitive benchmarking data when setting each role’s base pay range. Individual base salary will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, scope of role, business need and geographic location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$70,000-$105,000 USD

Additional information:

  • In-office location: Santa Monica, CA
  • This role is open to remote employees located in select US states including California, Washington, Nevada, Texas, Florida, Pennsylvania, New York and Georgia.
  • This role is offered as a full time position.
