What will you be doing?
 

Technology is central to everything we do and as such we have invested heavily in our in-house development teams who deliver industry leading, web-based solutions. The development teams use some of the latest web technologies working on Greenfield projects and applying modern development practices. All projects are run using Agile practices.

 

We are looking for a passionate and ambitious UX/UI designer with a focus on UX and a strong interest in user research to join us at Argus Media to help bring complex ideas to life. We need a focused and creative individual who is able to understand the objective at the highest level and yet still deliver down to the finest detail.

 

Working as part of the Argus technology department in our central London office, the UX/UI Designer role, you will be working closely with several different cross-functional teams and directly with internal customers.

 

This exciting role will require you to be resourceful and adaptable – as you will be working on a variety of projects and products, with the chance to see your own ideas through and make your mark on the direction of the company. You also need to be passionate about the customers experience, ensuring that it runs as smoothly as possible, and driven by insights from running your own user research studies and analysys.

 

You will need strong web enterprise application design experience, along with data visualisation skills and a desirable working knowledge of CSS, HTML and JavaScript and web front end frameworks.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

 

 

 

  • Working on and being responsible for the user experience of a range of Argus Media digital products for both web, mobile and native platforms
  • Gathering and evaluating user and stakeholder requirements, in collaboration with product owners, product managers and engineers
  • Find creative ways to solve UX problems (e.g., usability, findability)
  • Define the right interaction models and evaluate their success.
  • Visualising design ideas using storyboards, mock-ups, or low-to-hi fidelity prototypes.
  • Representing the UX function across various teams and products
  • Contributing to design sprints, brainstorming and idea-generating sessions
  • Working with Product Management in the development of user personas relating to the tech solution
  • Facilitating design workshops with the various teams to collaborate on initial ideas and wireframes.
  • Working closely with the development and leadership teams to shape the product roadmap.
  • Implementing functional ideas, use cases, user stories into prototypes for user testing and development.
  • Building on and extending our component and interaction libraries.

 

Skills and Experience

 

Essential

  • Prior experience in a similar hybrid UX/UI design role with a focus on responsive and mobile app user experience design.
  • Strong knowledge of responsive design for web and mobile interfaces technologies
  • Proven product and UX design experience in designing enterprise applications with complex user journeys for specialised domains.
  • Proven expertise in data visualisation and business intelligence dashboard design
  • Proven ability to distil complex systems into simple interfaces.
  • Expertise in most common wireframing and prototyping and design tools such as Balsamiq, Figma, Sketch, Invision, Zeplin, Flinto, Principle or equivalent.
  • Expertise in quick paper prototyping and visualising journeys and interactions quickly and efficiently
  • Knowledge of designing and expanding design systems, including components, pattern libraries and documentation.
  • Experience of applying UX best practices, usability principles and WCAG accessibility guidelines.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to convey complex concepts and workflows verbally and visually to senior stakeholders.
  • Customer focused with the ability to be empathic and patient.
  • Experience in conducting user research studies independently, including analysis and reporting, particularly usability testing sessions/lab testing, remotely and on-site.

 

Desirable

 

  • Web design and coding knowledge in areas such as CSS, HTML, JavaScript, and front-end frameworks like Bootstrap, React, Angular.
