you're looking for.

  • A role as a Lead Product & Service Designer with room for creativity, autonomy and growth.
  • The ability to use your current skills within an environment that values innovation and doing good, while developing yourself and your skills towards your purpose.
  • Learning opportunities - the environment and psychological safety to learn skills that you’re not necessarily comfortable with, and the ability to learn from others in No Moss.
  • Working as a team on problems - you don’t have to work on something alone.
  • Flexibility - No Moss can offer full-time, flexible working and part-time opportunities, all of which allow for satisfying and challenging work while leaving room for the pursuit of yourself.

we need.

We are looking for Lead Product & Service Designers (User Experience / User Interface Consultants) who appreciate and think about what went behind seemingly small design decisions, like the haptic feedback when using an iPod scroll wheel, the elastic bounce when finger scrolling to the end of a list or the clicking shut of an AirPods case.

You are not just simply someone who has a love for solving product design challenges, you also have a deep human drive to facilitate and help those around you be better and more capable people, and are a champion for continuous improvement of the practices in your team.

You are able to self-manage with a consulting client. You have a history of working with a multi-disciplinary team of product designers and developers; leading and executing the product's user experience and user interface design.

As a Lead Product & Service Designer (User Experience / User Interface Consultant) at No Moss Co, you can expect to:

  • Work with clients to understand detailed requirements and design complete user experiences that meet client needs and vision.
  • Champion and drive design practices that support lean and agile product development, such as design systems and atomic design.
  • Translate concepts into user flows, wireframes, mockups and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences.
  • Facilitate workshops and discovery of the client’s product vision by researching, conceiving, sketching, prototyping and user-testing experiences for digital products, using Design Sprint and Dual-Track Development processes.
  • Design, organise and implement user research projects, including A/B tests, field studies, user surveys, user interviews and usability tests.
  • Analyze and synthesize qualitative and quantitative research to create and report findings.
  • Present findings to designers, developers, leadership and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and delivery teams and provide actionable feedback.
  • Design and deliver wireframes, user stories, user journeys and mockups optimised for a wide range of devices and interfaces.
  • Identify design problems and devise elegant solutions.
  • Execute user interface design, using tools such as Figma or Sketch.
  • Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and features.
  • Facilitate a user-centred design approach and rapidly test and iterate ideas and designs.
  • Act as a consultant within No Moss Co and develop business opportunities with associated people.
  • Lead and coach team members as an advocate for the user experience and keep promises on the team-assigned scope.
  • Contribute to articles and case studies demonstrating No Moss’s growing Product and Innovation acumen.

  • You have at least three years of professional UX/UI product & service design experience, or can tangibly demonstrate you have the capability that is comparable to someone with at least 3 years of professional UX/UI product & service design experience experience.
  • Not required but highly desired: 1+ years of Consulting experience.
  • You have extensive experience in using UX and UI design best practices to design solutions and a deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive design.
  • You have a solid grasp of user-centred design (UCD), planning and conducting user research, user testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis, usability and accessibility concerns.
  • You can demonstrate your ability to facilitate product & service design workshops which deliver tangible outcomes meeting the needs and outcomes of multi-disciplinary teams & stakeholders;
  • You have an ability to learn and build on a field of expertise, such as improved UX/UI design practices;
  • An ability to learn and build a cross-functional skill set in other product delivery disciplines, such as but not limited to agile delivery and software development;
  • A positive outlook on helping to foster and shape the culture of our design team. You are passionate about new ideas and have an inclusive, supportive nature toward others;
  • Due to the nature of the role, for example where the consultants are required to visit clients onsite on a regular basis, evidence of double vaccination against COVID-19 is required unless you have evidence of a medical exemption;
  • You're an Australian citizen or hold a current visa to work in Australia;
  • Cover Letter & Resume - Tell us why you'd love to work with No Moss and why this role.

Our culture and ecosystem are important to us. If our purpose, vision and culture resonate with you, reach out to us. And in addition to that we also have a few other perks;

  • Flexible working arrangements – This could be part-time work, or selecting which will be your office days.
  • Remote work with the option to work in our Sydney or Melbourne office.
  • Access to your own personal development coach.
  • Paid Parental Leave
    • 6 weeks Paid Parental Leave at full salary for primary carer (not including government-funded parental leave).
    • 2 weeks Paid Parental Leave at full salary for the secondary carer.
    • Continuation of superannuation payments whilst on paid and unpaid Parental Leave.
  • Opportunities to purchase leave.
  • Giving back. About 10% of our profits go directly toward our non-profit partners, including One Child and our paid volunteer days with Cause Corps, our not-for-profit micro-volunteering organisation whose mission is to "make doing good a daily habit."

no moss in a nutshell.

No Moss is an Agility, Product Development and Tech Consultancy company that guides businesses to thrive as the very best version of themselves. As a business we are dedicated to growth; growth of our activities, growth of our staff and growth in our ability to ‘do good’.

Our purpose is our people’s purpose. That means that we’re looking for ways to help you find your purpose and spend your life in its pursuit and maximisation. We call that the #PursuitOfTheUngooglable.

As a consultancy, we provide a special rate card accessible only to non-profits; about 10% of our profits go directly toward our non-profit partners, including One Child and Cause Corps; and our skilled volunteering opportunities are directed toward the latter.

We, and hopefully you, want to learn and grow and #DoTheUngooglable. We have a deep culture of teaching and learning: “a rolling stone gathers no moss”, looking after each other: “it’s okay to not be okay”, and customer delight: “a certain polish."

We work with clients, from visionary founders with a dream, to budding scale-ups with millions in funding and market traction, to well-established enterprises in the top ASX 20. We work across a wide variety of industries such as; retail, non-profit, banking, and aged care.

you need.

A consultancy, a product incubator, and an innovation hub that prizes three things:

  1. a system of radical transparency. We have an environment of psychological safety, where we are safe to fail. We talk about the customers we lose openly and the reasons why we lost them so we can talk about how to improve together; We have an internally transparent salary grading and rate card, and We strive for transparency to allow our people to focus on making things (and each other) better.
  2. a place that values drive. Expect to be asked what your purpose in life is. You’ll spend your career with us in its renewal, pursuit, refinement and sometimes rejection of this declared purpose as you discover something else.
  3. an ecosystem of wholeness. We like you for all of you; not just the ‘work face’ you’ve been putting on. There’s room for diversity of thought at no moss, and we’re privileged to continually better our ecosystem toward that end.

you like.

Getting stuff done. A rigorous process that uplifts people and enables them to be the rolling stone that attains a certain polish. You want to add to these organisational learnings and make us better. You want to share what you already know for the betterment of your colleagues, freely and joyfully. You enjoy putting the extra (smartly chosen) mile in to not work hard, but work effectively. You like conversations where we celebrate failing – personal, team-based, organisational – and subsequent learning.

you expect.

Other people who are purpose-driven. People who value psychological safety. A place where people are good at listening and incredible at taking appropriate action. To be free to challenge the status quo and each other to greater things. An ecosystem of people who are outside their comfort zone nearly all the time, working mostly in their learning zone, occasionally edging into their terror zone.

we like.

People who are connected to our story and are inspired to be part of a community. People who want to give back to ecosystems that are finding new, more human ways of working.

we expect.

People who do what they say and say what they’ll do. Outcome-driven people who have a history of trying – resulting in both successes and learnings from their failures. People who love either strategic consulting, products and/or technological innovation.

our people.

Ask each other and the people we work with - “How are you?” and listen. They independently seek to learn and grow and are motivated to teach and grow others. We rise to challenges and are resourceful in solving problems. And importantly we celebrate each other’s success.
