Position at Logitech

Senior UX Designer, Experience Design Fundamentals

Logitech Software

Primary Location: Ireland - Cork or Remote/Hybrid

The Role

Logitech is looking for a Senior UX Designer to join our Experience Design Standards (EDS) team. You will lead on projects related to our consumer software platforms. The role is based in Ireland, reports to the Head of Global UX, and works closely with the Head of UX, Consumer Software and other stakeholders.

EDS for consumer software focuses on the definition and maintenance of design systems, incorporating components, patterns, and style guides, in the context of hardware and software which often have complex relationships.

At a higher level, it also addresses questions of information architecture, brand experience for diverse audiences, language localisation, knowledge support for the organisation, as well as research, both evaluative and generative.

You will also work closely with software engineers. As such, current knowledge of technical architectures, technologies and practices, e.g. agile development, would be an advantage.

To be successful in this role, applicants must have mastery of interaction design fundamentals

- e.g. information architecture; understanding which interaction elements, patterns, and paradigms to choose as required; adaptation to new technologies and paradigms; orchestration of cross-channel experiences - and an obsessive eye for detail. A strong understanding of practical methodology for research and  insight development, and an ability to advocate for these in a fast-paced environment where strong opinions may be held will be key. You must be able to articulate and advocate for your design choices, and have the soft skills necessary to bring others along, and grow your influence. A portfolio to evidence this experience will be required.

We value individuals who can lead with vision, while being adaptable and empathetic, and are energised by supporting the needs of a large, fast-paced, global organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • As a hands-on designer, you will both lead and execute work within the EDS team.

  • Design Systems: Lead the definition, refinement and implementation of design systems for our consumer facing software platforms. Working with the Head of UX, Consumer Software, you will build coherent systems, appropriate to the needs of the organisation with strong attention to detail.

  • You will maintain these design systems over time, developing an inclusive, scalable process for introducing new patterns, components, technologies to the system

  • Define information architecture, and collaborate with software engineers with a current understanding of technical architectures and practices.

  • Design for the increasing complexity of the relationship between our hardware and software

  • Address questions of brand experience for diverse audiences

  • Provide knowledge support for the organisation, through the delivery of information via organisation-wide and accessible platform(s)

  •  Conduct research, both evaluative and generative.

  • Your work has a significant impact on your discipline's achievement of department goals and objectives. You will lead, influence, & collaborate within your team, while adopting enthusiasm and passion as key elements to lead others

Requirements:

  • Design Systems: Have a clear understanding of design systems, from their definition, through to their implementation, adoption and maintenance.  Preferably, you will have developed such a system or will have been part of a team that has done so.

  • Design Systems: To build an effective system, you will require expertise in interaction design principles and practices, from fundamentals such as information architecture, to a knowledge of appropriate interaction choices, to the orchestration of complex cross-channel experiences.

  • Research and Insight: A strong understanding of practical methodology for research and  insight development, and an ability to advocate for these.

  • Ability to build influence through trusted relationships. You will need to persuade others, often at senior levels, to adopt your point of view.

  • Ability to mentor and guide new and  junior designers

  • Portfolio of work to evidence your experience
