Position Overview

Ziptility needs a passionate designer who will immerse themselves in the experience of using our app. This is a junior position because passion and creative obsession are a lot more important for success in this role than years of prior work, although the right candidate must have a portfolio that demonstrates their skill. The role will be responsible for user experience across all platforms (iOS, Android, browser). This is the first dedicated role of its kind at the company and will have an outsized impact on the success of our customers.

Responsibilities

• Own all ‘last mile’ execution for app designs before they proceed to the engineering team for development. This means working with product owners and customer liaisons to bring ‘fat marker sketches’ to life as high-fidelity designs.
• Serve as the foremost internal champion for quality control across web and mobile app platforms of the Ziptility product. This means performing design audits at various stages of the development process, including the live production product, to identify what was overlooked in the initial design or release process, or what is inconsistent across screens and platforms.
• Document inconsistencies in the user interface and user experience, across platforms, and providing high-fidelity design corrections for development.
• Collaborate with engineers to design new UX flows while incorporating them into a UI component library / style guide.
• Participate in the following design and iteration process in any typical week:
  • Product & sales team will demo existing user journey through the lens of key solutions (user persona based flows through the app that solve a given problem)
  • Product & engineering team will take insights gathered from the demo experience and prioritize which parts of the journey need improvement
  • Product & engineering will collaborate on user experience approaches through fat marker sketches and wireframes
  • Product & design will produce hifi designs from those wireframes

You’re an ideal candidate if you have:

• Process orientation and detail obsession. Be able to describe how structured processes and attention to detail make your life worth living.
• Experience designing for native iOS and Android design guidelines. Your portfolio should include some examples.
• Ability to communicate rationale for UX decisions from the end user’s point of view.
• Comfort presenting designs and receiving critical feedback. Over and over again.
• Comfort asking questions to get the answers you need.
• Appreciation for a well defined brand. Not interested in just using another style kit.
• Pride in designing the whole user journey; onboarding, daily usage, email/push notifications, product releases, etc.
• The ambition to truly delight users with surprisingly intuitive experiences.
• Bonus points for ability to write and maintain clean CSS code.

We offer a competitive compensation package including base salary in the range of $65,000 to $85,000, medical benefits, 401k program, 4 weeks of PTO for every employee, as well as opportunities for professional growth. We are a fully remote company and provide all full-time employees with both an equipment stipend and home office stipend to secure the tools you need.
