Type: Permanent, part-time

** About Jornee

Jornee is a young startup with a mature foundation.

Our mission is to empower individuals to embrace their mental wellbeing journey, by using technology to help them be more human.

Our founder is a Yogi with more than 15 years experience living, learning and teaching the practice and philosophy of Yoga. Being a Yogi means abandoning the illusion of perfection, and fully embracing the chaotic experience of being human, through kindness, self-awareness, and compassion. This is the foundation that sustains our products and company culture.

We are designing an app that uses AI to offer individuals the opportunity to rediscover themselves. It is a journaling app that uses AI to help people understand the unmet needs behind their difficult emotions.

** Our values

  • We are a low stress, high learning environment.
  • There is no failure, only learning.
  • We are all learning from each other. Everyone has something to teach, and something to learn.
  • Our mental health comes first. Yes, we want to launch and grow, but not at the cost of our peace of mind.
  • Motivation comes from a sense of purpose and ownership. We trust that you will deliver your best work if you feel you have autonomy over how to do it.
  • We value your independence, and do not impose working schedules.

** The role

We are looking for an experienced UX Researcher to join us, and work together with the Product and Marketing teams to achieve the following goals:

  • Analyse our current data to produce insights to provide design recommendations and conduct further research;
  • Plan and conduct research to understand our audience, potential customers and users;
  • Plan and conduct concept evaluation research of our products;
  • Plan and conduct usability testing of our prototypes;
  • Collaborate on defining our MVP launch strategy;
  • Collaborate on defining our Product Roadmap;
  • Define and own all our UX Research documentation;
  • Define the processes and best practices for all UX Research;
  • Provide design recommendations based on your desk research and primary research findings;
  • Work together with a Data Scientist/Software Developer to deliver our MVP.

This is a part-time, remote role, with compensation in equity, since the company is pre-money.

You will be reporting directly to the Founder, who is an experienced UX Lead and User Researcher, and to our Product Manager, who will join the team roughly at the same time as you. We are hiring for roles across Product and Marketing, so you will be working together with them to achieve common goals.

** Our team

The Founder is also an experienced Graphic Designer, UX/UI Designer and UX Researcher. She is also experienced in Marketing, having built in the past a community of 30K+ people, organically, on Facebook, back in 2013-2016, using only her illustrations and articles on yoga and lifestyle.

In addition to the Founder, we currently have two Junior UX Designers, and we are now actively growing our team, by recruiting for other roles in Marketing, Design and Software Development.

** About you

This opportunity suits someone who:

  • Is driven and internally motivated to achieve goals.
  • Has proven experience achieving goals similar to ours;
  • Personally connects with our values;
  • Wants to make an impact in the mental wellness tech field;
  • Has solid communication skills to effectively collaborate with the other remote team members;
  • Is open to learn and teach;
  • Wants to contribute to the growth of a company and other people, by bringing their unique perspective;
  • Wants to support a female immigrant founder.
  • Is willing to commit for a few hours a week;
  • Has their own working computer, workspace and stable access to the internet.
