Role Description
- Umbrage Product Design Senior Crafters, are responsible for:
- Uncovering user needs through research, synthesizing research data into insightful artifacts, generating visual concepts, and designing insightful interactions for how people will interact with the digital solutions we design.
- Leading user experience and product design activities including: planning, design, facilitation, and synthesis of client workshops, user interviews, wireframing, visual design, prototyping, and user testing.
- Explain, discuss, and justify design decisions and feedback eloquently. Provide effective feedback and direction to junior team members.
- Management of all design activities on a project.
- Frame and tell the story of design solutions. Communication of research findings, conceptual ideas, detailed designs, and design rationale both verbally and visually.
- Own the execution of research deliverables, mid-fidelity wireframes, hi-fidelity designs, and clickable design prototypes that follow craft and industry best practices. Evaluation of work contributions from junior team members on a project.
- Supporting craft growth and community through leading internal initiatives and community events and growing our library of knowledge and resources.
- Close collaboration across crafts to drive successful product delivery.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
- 5+ years’ experience in digital product or UX/UI design
- 4+ years’ experience in creating personas, user journey maps, wireframes, and hi-fidelity designs
- 4+ years’ experience in user research, requirements gathering, and collaboration with users/clients and teams
- 3+ years’ experience in planning, designing, facilitating, and synthesizing workshops
- 2+ years’ experience in leading small project teams
- Ability to learn new software quickly; experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma, Confluence, and/or JIRA is a plus.
- Knowledge of and experience with applying user-centered design processes.
- Understanding of areas of specialization within the greater design landscape, including but not limited to Design Research, Visual Design, and Content Design.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Ability to learn new software quickly; experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma, Confluence, and/or JIRA is a plus.
- Knowledge of and experience with applying user-centered design processes.
